Please keep all discussion of tonight's episode on this thread until three hours after the Patriots finally let it on the air, by which time the West Coast will have found out just who Donald says 'That's amore!' to this week. Honestly -- it's an Italian leg. Do you think there's any way he's not going to kiss something before the end of the hour? (If we've got the original greeter back, we may have to clear the airwaves...)
East Coast is gonna be late.7 1/2 minutes remain in the 4th quarter, and the Patriots are insisting that Brady at least tie the TD pass record today for the home crew.
What makes it worse is that my local game -- Jets vs. Titans -- got off the air with about ninety seconds to spare. There was a tenth of a second when I thought we might start on time tonight. And then they switched the feed.
Gawds, I hate New England.
Looks like we will be about 20 minutes late.Checks the DVR to make sure I've got the whatever the God show is on after TAR is set to record.
LAST EDITED ON 12-23-07 AT 08:17 PM (EST)Just got the TiVo set to record the following CBS show too.
So who's to blame for the delay this time? Let me guess, the Patriots were only up 89-0 in the 3rd quarter and the Golden Boy had a few more TD passes to throw. Is that it??
edit: No siggies, Mr. Headroom...
The Dolphins actually managed to fight back a bit during the second half and that seemed to slow things down.Believe it or not the Patriots only scored in the first half.
>Gawds, I hate New England.

If you lived here you might hate it even more.(just kidding, I love it)
... but the weather is bad, and the sports teams have historically been awful, recent wins notwithstanding.
It starts on time!
The EPMB you say.
Help! I tried using Google but I still don't know what EPMB stands for.
Evil Producer Mark BurnettYou know, the Survivor mastermind, eh?
(Darn Canadians, with their on-time TAR starts...)
Executive Producer Mark Burnett (the guy to blame for Survivor)EP can also be Evil chose whatever P word you want Mark Burnett.
Bunch point, everyone needs to wait for a bus.
But not all get the first one.
LAST EDITED ON 12-23-07 AT 08:42 PM (EST)Chris/Dad
Goths
Nate/Jenare on the first bus that leaves at 5 am
Everyone caught up for the ferry ride over to Italy.
Goths: except for Adam and Rebeca I have never seen a M/F team where the male was so helpless.
Note to EVERYONE!Learn to drive a stick shift BEFORE coming on the race. Honestly.
Damn it. I am Canadian and can not get on TAR and I learned stick shift just in case they openned up who could enter.
One team is missing their TAR clue sheet!
And while they had to go back for their clue they get there in second place because traffic slows down most of the teams.
TK and Rachel lost it while getting directions.
Hmmm... I think the couple took it thinking they'd be getting a souvenier.
Can you say "clueless"?I knew you could!

A stocking stuffer from Agman!
It will be a great day when every one of our schools get all the money they need while
the Air Force has to hold a bake sale to raise enough funds to buy a bomber.
There is only one fast forward, and it is for life!Roadblock is from the air.
Yikes the Fast Forward is getting a tatoo.Roadblock is go up in an Ultralight to find the next place they need to go.
30 min max for the search then they have to land and refuel before they can go up.
If they find it they signal the pilot who takes them back. They have to say the correct word to get the clue.
The Goths catch up with TK&R, the race is on.
Get a blackberry, do not use it for anything other than getting a message that will be sent to you.Is it a clue?
Is it a hint?
Is it directions? It is a message from home. *gack*
I noticed the message for R&C was in Chinese even.
Goths are breaking down.
They seem to have gotten lost with being detoured off the highway. Everyone else found there way to the location, not known how far they are from being there.
Nate does it and found the clue.
TK went up for 30 and didn't find it.
Chris/Dad had to go back and get the number, not sure if they've gone up yetSon and Grandpa go on the Fast Forward and are at the tattoo place. Grandpa is not sure he can do it.
Goths still lost.
WOW! They listened! When there is a non-elimination the last team will be given a extra task in the next leg. And they don't know when it will come!
I love the idea. what do you think?
Yeah, Ronald. It was a really tricky drive and you did a commendable job on that. The "that" would have been following your daughter's directions, right? Keep going straight now. What an a$$.
And of course it is all her fault they don't have the number and all her fault they can't make up their mind about doing the Fast Forward.
At least the Goths have answered the question about whether drivers are allowed to change mid-stream. I've wondered about that. Don't think we've seen it before.
Grandpa finally agrees to it.Nate and Jen on the way to Vinci
Christina doing the Roadblock.TK is really frustated
Christina sees it.TK closing your eyes and holding your head will not help you see the clue.
Christina is the second one complete with the Roadblock.
Kynt and Vyxsin see a sign for Empoli so are getting closer.
Nick and Don are complete and head off for the pitstop in Florance.
Nate and Jen run 3K instead of driving up to where the clue box is.
Option 1 lift rock with crane use mirror to see clue on bottom of rock.
Option 2 do a flag routine
TK comes in for a second refueling.
Goths arrive, and Vyxsin does the Roadblock.
Nate and Jen do the Flag Routine. Nate having trouble.Ron and Christina are second to the Detour.
TK lands for another refueling.
Vyxsin found it first try.
TK wants to give up.
Nate and Jen mess up the first time they do the flag.
Ron and Christina go to do the flags.
Nate and Jen get it the second time around. Nate actually listened to Jen, for once. Off to the pitstop.
TK up again and finally sees Vinci.
Goths on the way to Vinci.
Ron and Christina don't get the flags the first time. Second time the get it.
Dad takes off before Christina is in the car.
Goths do Invention. Then they see it is too hard and go to the Flags.
TK and Rachel go to do Invention.
Goth lost on way to the cars. Kynr threatens to jump out of the car. She lets him drive.
WOW! They listened! When there is a non-elimination the last team will be given a extra task in the next leg. And they don't know when it will come!
I love the idea. What do you think?
>When there is a non-elimination the
>last team will be given
>a extra task in the
>next leg. And they don't
>know when it will come!
>
>
>I love the idea. What
>do you think?I am no expert (kind of a TAR newbie). But I think...
The speedbump might be tough, or come at just the wrong time, but maybe this will give the team more of a chance than requiring them to come in first next time as they did the other time I watched.
(TAR # 10 or 11, maybe?)
It'll be interesting to see, anyway. I'm routng for the goths now, even though I thought I wouldn't like them.
TK and Rachel get the crane to work.Car is inoperable, Kynt and Vyxsin decide to run and hope the replacement car is there when they get back.
TK and Rachel are headed to the pitstop as the Goths are headed to the Flags.
TK and Rachel have a tire blowout.
Goths get the flag routine the first time and are off to the pitstop.
TK and Rachel change their tire and are off again.
Both teams driving to Florence.
>Car is inoperable, Kynt and Vyxsin
>decide to run and hope
>the replacement car is there
>when they get back. That? Was a great idea. Most of the teams would have had a meltdown and cussed and/or rained blows on each other, but Kynt/Vyxsin had the presence of mind to just leave the car and know the TAR folks would send a replacement one, so they could just focus on the task in the meantime.

Nick and Don are first with trip to Cancun.Nate and Jen are team #2
Ron and Christina are team #3
TK and Rachel are Team #4
Goths are Team #5 This is the first of only two NEL. There is bad news.
Sometimes during the next leg you will get a new twist, a speed bump. Only you have to complete the task, and you don't know when it is coming.
Speed Bump = Pray for flight connection issues (after you do the SB), hours of operation issues (after you do the SB), or the next leg's a Superleg or else you'll have to really book it through the next leg to avoid getting eliminated.
I liked that judge for the flag detour: Wait for the drum roll, point at the contestants and give them a "NO!"Thomas Kyle (!) telling Rachel at the invention detour: "I guess each piece fits in only one place." (Duh!)
Thomas Kyle again, while raising the block: "Da Vinci must have been buff".
But I thought there were no Non-Elimination leg and now we hear it is the first of 2??
(I also like that Jims' casino owes me a lot of points)
that NE speech was edited in....... maybe there were actually 3 and one of those legs won't be shown?
>But I thought there were no
>Non-Elimination leg and now we
>hear it is the first of 2??Maybe they decided to put that in when they saw the Goths were in last place - they know what makes for good TV and the Goths are great TV so they got to milk them for all they could get!

I think I heard similar accusations of "convenient timing of NELs" during TAR 9 when the Original Hippies ended up getting their money robbed twice and still won the whole thing..........
LAST EDITED ON 12-24-07 AT 12:29 PM (EST)>But I thought there were no Non-Elimination leg and now we
>hear it is the first of 2??I have no idea why they chose to deceive the media about it, but yes, two different producers -- Jonathan Littman and Bertram van Munster -- had previously stated there would be no non-elimination legs:
We didn't originally publish it in transcript form, but the following exchange is from Reality TV World's van Munster interview
RTVW: Littman has previously stated that the show's twelfth installment dropped
non-elimination legs. Is that in fact the case? van Munster: That's exactly the case, yes
After that, van Munster continued:
van Munster: The audience and ourselves, we're not crazy about non-eliminations. It's exciting to see people eliminated at the end of every episode.
and:
van Munster: Penalties just make it murky. This is just such a clean-cut concept, it's not about finding more penalties and hurdles for people. That's not what this thing is about. I think the audience and our fans like eliminations from what we understand.
CBS hasn't responded to our message requesting an explanation of Littman and van Munster's earlier comments so far.
