Please keep all discussion of tonight's episode on this thread until the West Coast gets to realize CBS pulled it for fear of competition with the Academy Awards. (Completely unlike pulling it for fear of being hurt by never starting on time.) Whee!

What? Like NBC pulled Donald?

I liked this episode! I was surprised at how quickly they had the teams fly out of Santiago though, rarely is it only one clue in a city before flying out again.

Driving and directions always make for nice conflicts! Charla and Mirna seem very dramatic...that poor cab driver.

*stumbles into thread dazed and confused*

They did a "last week on the Amazing Race" segment during the middle of 60 minutes?!?

Now the theme song is playing.

Whaddya mean it SUPPOSED to start at 8 pm?!?

Yeah. I'm a bit surprised, too. Enough so that I'll prolly have to leave the thread for a while to eat dinner in a little bit. Who thought that would happen?

Ontime but good grief...we got a 2 minutes "previously on The Amazing Race" and now we are on commercial break. URGH!

So where in the guidelines does it say that if I start one more update thread this week, I get twenty dollars?

At least you don't have to start an Apprentice East Coast Update Thread tonight...

David and Mary pull schmirna out of the ditch.

What will be the alliance name this race?

I don't know why Romber and Cha Cha Cha's are worried about their delayed flight. It arrives at 2:30 AM! It's not like the Copper Company will be open at that time.....

"RE: TAR-Stars Episode #2 East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by vince3 on 02-25-07 at 08:11 PM
and then again......

Roadblock!!!!!

"Today's lesson:"
Posted by Estee on 02-25-07 at 08:07 PM
'Research is bad'. Find a faster flight? Good for you. It comes with a special 'DELAYED' stamp and the right to watch the slower flight leave the gate ahead of you, with no chance of getting on it at the last minute.

Well, it was only forty minutes moving into a bunch point anyway. As if a corporate building was going to be open before six in the morning.

Was it just editing? Or did they really miss that flight?

"RE: TAR-Stars Episode #2 East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by MsShel330 on 02-25-07 at 08:09 PM
I don't understand why Romber and Cha Cha were so hot to get in at 1:50 a.m. The likelihood is that nothing will be open at that time.

"Shockingly?"
Posted by Snidget on 02-25-07 at 08:11 PM
The building is open.

No bunching for you.

What business is open at 2:30 am in the morning? That is one long conference Call!

Okay this is different, something that's open in the middle of the night.

Ya, but clearly the airlines weren't -- all they seemed to do is move the bunch point from the office building to the airport!

As suddenly, Mary starts to become a danger on this Race...

"We have alliances!"
Posted by vince3 on 02-25-07 at 08:18 PM
Romber/Cha Cha Cha's = Flamboyant scheming DAW's

Kentucky/Schmirna = Friends in low places (literally)

"RE: We have alliances!"
Posted by tamarama on 02-25-07 at 08:34 PM
Gee, David & Mary's resolution to run a different race this time really lasted a long time eh?

And again, aligning with one of the weakest teams!

(please let one of them go tonight! pleasepleaseplease)

Put locking washers and lug nuts on a tire and tighten it down, or cover a yellow line on a stick using a front loader. Rob knows how to drive a front loader.

Posted by MsShel330 on 02-25-07 at 08:37 PM
What did I just witness? What happened with the driver? Were they that loud that last time? I hope they're out tonight because I can't take anymore of that.

"RE: I NEEEED A STEP STOOOOL"
Posted by tamarama on 02-25-07 at 08:49 PM
Yes, they were that bad last time.

Freakin drama queens.

And since Charla SAW the step stools nearby, why in the world would Mirna be shrieking that they don't have time for that?

Would it really be faster for Mirna the Incompitent to do it all herself than for Charla to take 45 seconds to get steps?

I HATE them. HATE. Yes, I know that is a strong word, and I chose it deliberately.

"RE: TAR-Stars Episode #2 East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by mysticwolf on 02-25-07 at 08:29 PM
Guido's forget (or at least the driver chooses to ignore) that both of them must take a turn driving the front loader.

As teams leave they must not exceed 40k/hr until they get to the highway where they can resume 50k. I assume that pointing that out means someone speeds.

"RE: TAR-Stars Episode #2 East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by vince3 on 02-25-07 at 08:32 PM
I'm leaning torward a good chunk of the teams...... since details haven't been their strong suit tonight!

Team Kentucky, the team I would most have bet knew how to put a tire on a big truck, forget the washers are supposed to lock & put a bunch of them on backwards. Redoing them, they are now in last place.

"RE: Please God"

Ya know - I'm not a Dustin/Kandice fan, but it sounded like they were willing to negotiate, and Schmirna just completely lost their sh!t.

I can't describe how much I HATE them.

Romber's two for two for firsts
Cha Cha Cha's second for the second week in a row
Guidos third
Mixed Tag fourth
Team InVitro fifth
Beauty Queens sixth
Big Kahunas seventh
Schmirna eighth and irritated at the world, especially the BQ's for trying to mooch off of their first taxi following
Kentucky ninth and irritated at Schmirna for daring to pass them
Festers last and refusing to believe that the speed limit was raised to 50 kph after leaving that twisty valley

ETA: Thanks Pepe!

Festers refuse to believe the highway speed limit signs of 50k. So, the issue isn't that someone speeds, it's that the Festers are idiots.

"RE: TAR-Stars Episode #2 East Coast Spoiler Thread"

D&K get directions and turn around. Ian & Terry follow them. Festers see both teams coming back at them and decide to keep going into the distance.

Apparently, it's ok for Schmirna to pass everyone, but no one is allowed to pass them.

"RE: TAR-Stars Episode #2 East Coast Spoiler Thread"
Posted by anotherkim on 02-25-07 at 08:54 PM
No one else is allowed to talk to people, no one is allowed to pass, no one else is allowed to take any sort of control away from the chosen pair.

Mirna is my least favorite female in the history of The Amazing Race. She is intolerable. Charla's comment about plastic surgery and not using looks while Mirna does everything she can to flirt and femme it up just came across as flat out b.s.

"Beauty is sometimes skin deep. It's easy to make yourself beautiful with plastic surgery but to have a pure heart and to have morals is not easy to make up." -- Charla

Before I heard that, I actually kinda thought Charla was OK, and just unwise enough to team up with Mirna - but now?

Get over yourself.

ETA: And who ever said the beauty queens have had plastic surgery? I haven't looked that closely, but I didn't think they had surgery, Guys?

(the worst thing about backing up to get the exact quote was that I had to watch Mirna freak out at that poor cab driver 3 times. I'd love to hear what he thought of them. 'what do you want from me')

In the most telegraphed move episode yet, the Festers are eliminated. Drew doesn't care. He's tired from driving. His feet & shoulder hurt. He wants his hat from the sun. Obviously, his heart was never, ever, in this. (Even though he's proud of himself for not giving up. What.ever.)

I missed their season, but I was under the impression that they were well loved -- something that certainly doesn't make sense to me after seeing these 2 eps.

What's the deal? Were they that awful the first time?

They were much better -- and funnier -- the first time around. Clearly their complexions weren't the only things impacted by the fact that they seem to have spent the last five years locked indoors.
