I think we've got a porn pop-up coming up. All I know is it opens up a new full screen window at various times when I'm on here. Since we have so many people who log in from work, you might wanna take a look at that.

ETA: It happened again, and I'd done a pretty thorough scrubbing for adware and other stuff that might cause it otherwise. It's for sexsearch.com

I like porn, but it doesn't go over well with my bosses.

Is there a way to sign up to have that be the ONLY popup some of us see?

I've encountered a nasty little pop up in the last week on this site (only) that I can't get rid of. It's usually red and white with someone shoving clothes at me, or a surfer. I'm not sure if it finally was able to corrupt my AdAware files, but I had to reload everything this morning, and it found 12 pieces of garbage. It seems to get through my AdWatch also. Any ideas on how to kill it?

Do you have popup blocker, try to enable it if you have it.

My AdWatch (attached to AdAware) usually does the trick, but something must have snuck through. Any backup ideas are welcome!

I'm getting one routinely from Go Phone. It's driving me nuts, makes it through AdAware and Yahoo's popup blockers...

ugh.

If you folks succeed in blocking all ads from an ad-supported website then the website will shutdown, just like magazines stop publishing when they can't sell enough ads. Sounds like a flawed plan to me.

I have disabled "Run ActiveX controls and plug ins" when I am on SB. It may affect other things, but once I'm off site it is easy enough to turn it back on. Haven't seen that effing GoFone since . Now for the wide screen problem? Got nothin'.

It just came up on the website for me. The popup blocker didn't block it. I don't think this is safe for those peeps at work.

I've been trying to look into this issue, but if no one provides any specifics as to the issue -- and a solid reason to believe that, given that I've yet to find any sign its coming from any of our ad partners, it's not actually coming from some scumware that a select few people have installed on their PC -- its not ever going to get resolved.

Survivor Blows, I read yor other message and I know that it is Sex Search doing it and we will live if it comes. It has only happened once to me but thanks for looking into the problem.

One thing people might want to look for...are you suddenly seeing links on the conferences page for words like "show"? If so, you might have a mild Trojan on your PC. I had one that was causing SexSearch and a bunch of pop-ups on my computer, and I was suddenly seeing loads of links where I didn't expect to see them.

If you're in a similar situation, then it's going to take a few runs of your virus software to get it. I know that the .dat files for McAfee will catch the thing. Just remember that if you have XP, your system restore will just put the dang thing back, so you'll need to shut off system restore before you run your virus scan.

If you've got the same thing I had, it's not serious. It's a low risk downloader that's more of a hassle than anything else. But I finally got rid of it, and it's been gone for weeks.

*tip of the hat* to Webby, too. The Help board replies haven't gone unnoticed.
