"Tag Lines"

Posted by HistoryDetective on 01-28-05 at 07:24 PM
I would like to insert a longer tag line under my sig pic, but every time I go to the user profile area to do so I can never write more than thirty or so characters on the line before it automically moves the text down to the next line. That's fine, I guess, because I could edit the tag line every time I post, but it is inconvenient. Part of the reason for making it a permanent part of my profile is so I don't have to type it otu every time. I would prefer to do no editing, if possible. Any suggestions?

Check the guidelines because there are specifications on how long a tagline that is used under every post can be.

You can put a tagline in your signature box in the user file. Where you would keep your sig pics, and it works the same way so you don't have to post it each time.

I hope that helps.

"You can put a tagline in your signature box in the user file."

That's what I was trying to do, but I guess that I did not explain it well enough.

Using Mozilla, I can get my sig pics on a single line because they are all one word, ie no spaces - but the tag line gets moved down to the next line whenever I get to the end of the box that I'm typing the text into. I don't hit "return" but the text gets moved anyway.

Using Safari, I can't even get the entire address for the sig pic on a single line - when the box runs out of space the "User_files/##########.jpg" section gets put on the next line, forcing me to edit every time I post.

The tag line I am currently using is much shorter than those used by other users, but I can't get it all on one line due to the html code taking up space.

I hope that makes better sense.

Thanks for trying!

Actually, never mind! I finally figured out that what it looks like on my user profile page is not how it appears when I actually post a message - once I did all the edits in Mozilla (Safari is still a problem, but as long as I have a solution, I don't care).
