"new messages"

Sometimes when I log in that little red wavy flag is there saying I have new messages, so I get all excited (yay...someone wants to talk to me) and go check it out...and there aren't any new messages, just ones that I've already read.

So, my question is...is there any way I can get that little flag to stop erroneously waving or am I just going to have to deal with the disappointment of false messages?

Are you manually deleting the cookies from your computer, or does the computer do it automatically? I think the site puts a cookie on your computer when you read each message. If the cookie is deleted, the site thinks the message is new again. So you can avoid this by not deleting the cookies, I think.

Oh, thank you...
I'll have to do that when I get home. The computers they have us using here have a ton of security...I can't use anything that uses Java because there's some sort of blocker and I tried to get rid of it, but no good.

Thanks for explaining the prob.
