BBear, I use no pop blockers, etc. and have visited the site extensively this afternoon and not seen any of those GAIN Active-X dialogs, nor has anyone else reported such ads (which as you're apparently aware, we don't allow advertisers to run.)

I'll check with our ad networks and make sure nothing has somehow creeped into rotation, but are you sure it's coming from our site? Perhaps you accidently installed some scumware software that's displaying it everytime you load a page?

Thanks,
SB

We are behind some pretty big firewalls at my office and RTW was the only site I visited yesterday. It doesn't appear to be doing it here at home though, so I will have to have a closer look at my computer at work on Monday. We were attacked by the Gaobot virus, but my personal desktop is not infected only our servers were, so maybe that is the problem. Thanks for checking into it.

It was popping up on me too earlier and driving me nuts. It's not doing it now though. I can't figure out how to get into the chat room and I read the thread on it and couldn't find any answers there either. Is there another thread that will help me?

I got a GAIN popup as well and I wasn't running any other programs. I don't mind the popups except for GAIN. (Once made the mistake of getting it installed on my computer - never again.)

No one should be seeing any Active-X GAIN popups on this site. If you see one and believe an ad being displayed on this site was the cause, then you need to note what banner ad was being displayed on the top of the page at the time the GAIN popup appeared and email me the information.

Also including the URL of the banner image being displayed or the URL that the banner linked to would also prove extremely helpful in diagnosing the problem.

Please also note whether you had any other browser windows open at the time. In addition to the possiblity that you have some scumware that's been downloaded to your computer and displaying the ads, users must also be aware that if you have any other browser windows open while reading a page on this website, a webpage being displayed on another browser window might automatically reload or rotate to a new ad -- which could account for the appearance of the GATOR pop.

Thanks,
SB

does that have anything to do with it? All the people getting git are Canadian posters. I have no idea if that makes a difference.

I've gotten it once or twice lately, but not "attacked" with it.

Good observation, Canada Girl. We've found the problem, and it does indeed relate to our non-U.S. ad package. That's why it never showed up when those of us in the U.S. were looking for it!

It should now be fixed. Let us know if it "pops up" again.
