"How do I get off from being notified?"

LAST EDITED ON 12-16-03 AT 04:29 PM (EST)

As an unwary novice, I checked the little square to receive email when a new message is posted on the thread. I had misread it, thinking it was only replies to my particular message. I'm linked on to a couple very popular threads and now my incoming mail looks like a major spam attack of notifications about postings to the threads. How do I get it so that I will no longer be notified? I went into edit mode hoping I could de-select the box from there, but it shows the box as empty.
So, now what? Is there another way to de-select the square or do I just wait it out until the interest shifts to another topic?

Unfortunately, there is no way to unselect this option... you will have to wait until the thread dies on its own.

The good news is that threads are rarely active for more than a week or so (and in most forums, MUCH less than that).

So you should see the e-mails go away soon enough

Thank you. Yeah, they've stopped. Whew!
Now, how do I change my user name?

You cannot change your username... it is against the rules as set forth in the Official Site Guidelines, unless there is a VERY good reason why you would need to change it.
