"An explanation of the nomination process"

LAST EDITED ON 01-11-02 AT 03:36 PM (EST)

Starting on January 11, 2002 RealityTVWorld will be accepting open nominations for all award categories. Any registered message board user may nominate for an award. Open nominations will continue until January 19, 2002 at midnight EST. At that time the Blowie Award Committee will vote in private on which nominees will appear on each award's ballot. Between 3-5 nominees will be selected for each category. Once the ballot is finalized, the 2002 RealityTVWorld Blowie Awards will be opened for voting by all website visitors. Voting will remain open for a pre-determined time period, then the ballots will be closed, the results tabulated, and the winners announced. Each user will only be allowed one vote.

On to the rules:

- DO NOT nominate a contestant who has already been previously nominated in that category. If you wish to discuss how worthy/unworthy a nominee is for an award, please discuss it in the 2002 RealityTVWorld Blowie Award Nomination Discussion Forum. Do not discuss it in this forum.

- DO NOT create any new forum topics. Keep all nominations in their original topic. We will not be creating any additional awards, so PLEASE do not suggest any new additional award categories.

- To be eligible, the show or series must have aired at least one episode during the 2001 calendar year on either broadcast or cable US television (yes, you Canadians and any Canada-only shows get screwed again

That's Saturday January 19, right?

Thanks for the correction, TechNoir.

"Helpful tip for viewing/posting nominations"

Click on the expand threads function at the top of your page to easily view categories and nominations. Doing this makes checking what has already been nominated easy.

sorry if this is inappropriate here, just trying to help.

"Duplicates will be deleted!"

Please do not post duplicate nominations for the same person, show or event. I have been deleting them whenever I come across them ... and no one wants their posts deleted, do they?

Hey, two recurring problems:

1. Survivor 1 is NOT eligible for the 2002 Blowies.

2. Dr. Will Kirby, the winner of Big Brother 2, has been nominated in the Best Strategy category 5 or 6 times now. Once is all that is needed. I have deleted the rest -- but they still keep reappearing!

I did not see this thread, as it was on the second page when I did my nominations. Sorry for the screw-up.

"WHEN WILL THE VOTING BEGIN?"

just wondering

"End of this week?"

Our goal was to start the voting as soon as the Super Bowl was over (GO PATS! HURRAY!), but we overdosed in technical issues, and we're still debating some of the finalists. Thus, we now expect that voting will start sometime around this weekend. It looks like we may have a few unexpected finalists as well.

My thanks to the other committee members (Webby, sleeeve, IceCat and shakes the clown) for their perserverence so far.

"Almost ready"

You're probably right, Buggy -- we should have thought about committee diversity. However...

The ballot is almost ready to post. As I mentioned on the other forum, the original software package selected for the ballot failed to work properly, and the designers ultimately decided that they couldn't fix it. We are now using a different software package which seems to be working fine, so expect to see the ballot in the next couple of days. Sorry about the delays so far...

Why am I finding it hard to get this picture out of my head--of you guys scrambling to find enough fingers to count? Maybe it's partly because you chose to use the Colby quote about RATIONALIZING? . . .
