Lady T's Cornertime With Kismet

<Cameras focus on the fidgeting form of Lady Trish. She is sitting on one of two bar stools. Kismet comes into the room. She looks tired and flushed, and is carrying a cup of coffee. She smiles for the camera and begins speaking.>

Good Evening Survivor Blows community. Joining us today is the infamous Lady Trish. LT has been a part of SB for a very long time under varying aliases. She was a summary writer at one point and has contributed to our community in many ways.

<Kismet arrives near Lady Trish and they shake hands. Kismet seats herself on the other barstool. We see that Lady T's timer reads 10:14:05>

Thank you for the interview LT. What exactly did you do that would land you here for such a long time? Who sent you here?

Don't you remember? You did. I begged and pleaded with you to be part of this until you had enough of me and said Yes, just to get you off my back.

Oh that's right I did... Yes excessive whining always gets you some cornertime. To be honest though you excel at whining, really I mean it. I do not think I have ever met a more proficient whiner in all my life.

Can I have some cheese with my whine?

<Kismet add an hour to LT's clock>

Did I mention I hate bad puns almost as much as I hate whining? Well, now you know. Let move on to the next question. You may want to be here all night, but I have things to do. How did you find this board and why did you stay?

I was a member of SS before the CAPSLOCK incident, After that, SS became famous and was flooded with people. If you expressed a differing opinion, especially one of the in crowd, everyone jumped all over you. It was so awful, it wasn't very much fun. When they initiated the voting off of posters, that was the last straw. I am proud to say that I received one vote to be kicked off of there <LT laughs>. I saw a post from Dee Smith, who invited people to SB. So I went and got such a warm welcome that I knew that this was the right place for me.

Who are your favorite posters and why?

The dreaded question, but the one that everyone looks to see if their name is here. <LT winks into the camera> I will start with the people who started with me. BA, Vamps and EBug, who really worked hard to make this place a fun, creative place. They deserve a lot of credit for keeping the bar active, especially in the beginning of S2. Last summer wouldn't have been the same without them. The two Supers, Pole and Man. Wouldn't that make a great name for a cartoon? Well, maybe not hehehe...

Lisapooh makes me laugh so much. She's helped me discover my innate hotness. Monkeyboy, Aym, Lizzlover, GT, The twins. I have had great conversations with the Twins, and look forward to many more. Surv is the kindest person, I wish there was more people like him around. And of course, the couple of the year here, you and Pen. Both of you are so talented and deserve a lot of credit for keeping the board alive in the offseason.

<LT tries to look innocent and not like a suckup but fails miserably. Kismet glares at her for a moment and when LT cowers, she makes a motion for her to continue.>

You know Kis, this is the hardest question. I feel like I am leaving so many people out. Why must you ask this?

Because I want to know. You were known as Kismet on SS, great name and I'm very glad you switched when moving here. When you arrived here you took the name Irish Eyes. Why did you change your nick again?

I am so glad you asked this. Regrettably, I was once here under the moniker Irisheyes. She needed to die. Irisheyes did a lot of things that she shouldn't have done, was manipulated by people and acted out before knowing the whole story. As IE, I have apologized to the people I hurt. I didn't want to leave, but wanted a fresh start. So Lady T was born. I also got a computer at my place, instead of at Mom's so I just decided to start afresh.

Why did you choose the name Lady T. Is there any significance in that name?

Obviously, T stands for Trish. My name means royalty so I wanted to incorporate the T, and needed another name with it. Queen was way to pretentious, Princess seemed to Barbie and Ken. Countess, well I so won't go there. Can you imagine the jokes with that one? So I decided on Lady. Added incentive was that I love the song Lady by Kenny Rogers.

On a funny note, my last name in either Celtic or Gaellic means my ass. So my full name means royalty, my ass. <LT laughs>

What is the funniest thing you have seen on this board or in chat?

OMG. I don't know if I should repeat this. The infamous night in chat last summer where I found myself to be sandwich meat with my two favorite pieces of bread, BA and Pole. The bar was christened that night, in more ways than one. However, I will say this, it was all in fun, and NOTHING happened,
regardless of what has been said in the past.

<Kismet raises an eyebrow>

Ok, I lied. Something did happen. I laughed so hard, I almost had an accident. Thank God that the bathroom was close by. Pole and Vamps had me laughing so hard, I ran out to get some Depends.

I've been told that you have all of the dirt on the ex-evil overlord(before I took over) known as BadAs. Tell us all of his dirty little secrets.

I can't reveal much, cause he knows too many of my secrets. But I can tell you this... <LT laughs> He likes to dress in women's underwear and wear high heels. OMG, did I say that? Just kidding BA.

He has been known to come to chat, not recently though, and carry on conversations with posters, all the while the poster thinks he's a newbie girl. I remember a girl who worked as a secretary and lived in DC. He had us fooled.

<Kismet mutters something about sheep.>

He is a wise all knowing man.

<Kismet chokes on her coffee>

Seriously, he is very cool and I think he is the greatest. His book is hysterical, even for a yank like me who had no idea that the word hokie existed.

I really enjoy the Brady Bunch series. How did you get the idea to do the Brady Bunch with SB posters? Will we be seeing a new one soon?

I love shows like the Brady Bunch, Facts of Life, Partridge family, Charlie's Angels. I liked writing the Charlie's Angels, so I thought I would use the Bradys, since I could use a lot of different people.

I was going to originally to the Love Boat, and have special guest stars Jason Bateman, Tori Spelling, Andrew McCarthy and Kathie Lee Gifford, but it got way too hard. I like to do parodies.

And yes, the next Brady will be out this weekend by the latest.

I look forward to reading it. Now LT, It is time to tell us about yourself..

I am happily single, never married. Who would live with me? <hehehehehe> I split with my ex in Feb when I realized how much smarter I was than him. He really was a dumbass. I live alone with my cat Cleopatra, who ran away but thankfully came home. One of my favorite things to do is send hate mail to the radio station I live next too, because they annoy me and its the only radio station I can get.

Here comes the sad story, be prepared. My Mom is my best friend. The defining moment in my life was April 17, 1999. I called my parents that morning to say Hi, and my mother told me my father hurt his back and she was taking him to the hospital. I met them there an hour later. I was greeted with the fact that my father was going to have emergency surgery for an aortic aneurysm. He made it through the surgery, but never awoke. He died twelve hours after feeling the first twinge of pain. As horrible as this was, it brought me closer to my mother and sisters. My parents were together for fifty years, and I moved in with my Mom for a year. Until we discovered that we were sick of each other. I live five blocks away from her.

The point of me sharing this is that laughter can get you through anything. To live everyday to its fullest because you never know what will happen. I discovered so much about myself that I never knew existed. To quote Dickens, it was the best of times, it was the worst of times.

I love to laugh, I love to write and I love taking pictures. I get up every morning and look in the mirror and I laugh. That puts me in a great mood and I try to maintain that happy feeling.

It is good to meet such a positive person. Thank you for sharing that story with us. Is there anything else we should know about you?

Lets see, you all know how sensitive I am. That is by far my worst trait. I don't have any neat tricks like applying lipstick from my cleavage, so I guess that's it.

Thank you the interview Lady T. It was very enlightening.

<Kismet gives LT's stool a spin until she is once again facing the corner. Kismet faces the camera. >

Thank you for joining us for this episode. I have no idea who we will see in here next time.

"The infamous Dee Smith post"

OMG! <click>

There is one piece of SB legend that I don't know, and I've never asked Webby. Here is the question: who was Dee Smith?

On the Wednesday night of E11, just before Colleen got the boot, I was reading the SurvivorSucks board, and there was a post from Dee Smith about a new DC Scripts-based Survivor spoiling board forming, to be called SurvivorBlows, with a link. I came over, and there was exactly ONE post on the board. So I didn't post, but I did bookmark the site...

Bookmarking the site turned out to be a great move, because SS went into apoplexy after the buttheads saw the Dee Smith post. First, the post was altered to direct the link to a different site (Survivor Insurance). Then it was deleted. Then it was restored, but with a strong warning note from DogStalker himself -- and Dee Smith's account became the first one closed in BTC. Then it was deleted again. Then the buttheads posted a formal link to SB. Then they took it down and trashed SB. Then, finally, everyone got all sorted out, and the Survivor world was never just a single site again. Virtually everyone who first came to SurvivorBlows came here because of the Thursday night Dee Smith post.

I know all that. What I don't know is who Dee Smith was. I've always assumed that it was an ID that Webby was using at the time, which would mean that Webby was a member of SS -- but I really don't know. Webby, would you like to answer?

As far as Lady T herself -- I loved reading this! Good heavens, the things I've missed by not being in chat very often. Thanks to you for being so open, Lady T, and thanks to you for supplying the interview, Kismet!

Edited on 9 July to correct the day of the week -- S1 ran on Wednesday, not Thursday!

You lawyers have too good a memory... damn, let's just say, yes, I knew Dee Smith

...and, though Dee is probably now ashamed to admit it, I believe at the time Dee's only previous postings on SS had been Big Brother related (mostly comments from watching the live feed noting how foolish or dumb the houseguests were.)

But you know, I didn't know most of what you just described -- Dee being the first BTC vote, the link being altered to point to an insurance site, or a "warning" attached to the link -- ha ha... funny rabbits. What could the "warning" have possible been?

Anyways, my favorite post from that night of August 9th:

http://community.survivorblows.com/boards/cgi-bin/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=5&forum=DCForumID2&archive=yes

...and 11 months later she's still venting

Yep, as far as I know, it was SB that broke SS's one-Survivor-website logjam on the Internet -- damn, what a mess we created!

...though I guess with SS "gone", that must make us now the oldest Survivor site out there.

You know, I think we'll have to come up with a way to celebrate SB's upcoming first birthday (August 9th)

VERY true!

Just for the sake of historical completeness, this was the first post on SB (and the one I referred to earlier):

http://community.survivorblows.com/boards/cgi-bin/dcboard.cgi?az=show_thread&om=1&forum=DCForumID2&archive=yes

Of course, Aja is female...
Another historical note: lswote (post #5 on that thread) had been kicked off SS two weeks earlier (pre-BTC) for having the termidity to defend the right of Island Heat to post his "unofficial" summaries...

>...though I guess with SS "gone", that must make us now
>the oldest Survivor site out there.

I hadn't realized that ... you're right!

Ah yes, some quality conversation.

For the record, someone called "Crazy Wubbles" was the first registered user. ..."tyke210" wasn't even one of the first ten, but I guess the first one brave enough to post (my, have the times changed...)

>Of course, Aja is female...

There was an Aja ID registered here that first night (along with gatormeatisyummy, ferretkiss, Devin, Dalton, George Tirebiter and probably a hundred more), no idea if it was her though...

And finally "AyatollahKhomeini" at #216. What took you so long?

>termidity to defend the right
>of Island Heat to post
>his "unofficial" summaries...

I was actually re-reading one of them when posting the link to the "S1" look last evening -- they are still pretty damn funny. Kudos IH, whereever you are..

Well, we're at least on-topic, discussing the founding of the board. Can Kismet say the same when she hijacks my threads?

Moi? I never ever hijack thresds. I always stay on topic. If I ever hijacked one of your thresds it was pure coincidence AyaK. *giggle*

(Transforms into 'evil over-lord' persona)

Besides, shouldn't you be.. I don't know.. WRITING A SUMMARY FOR BLOWSVIVOR or something??!! Don't let me find you in here again young man!

LT, great interview. I never picked up on the IE thing.

Feeling humbled by your story about your dad. Today I found out that a guy my age died. Left 3 children and a wife my age.Have not bummed this hard for a long time. (dg petitions those who pray to send up a kind word for them) In the same morning I saw my friends father, who is so weakened by his chemo, he can't stand for long. So after reading your story, I am reminded of the fragility of our situations here on the planet. Also how important it is to laugh!

LadyT...so sorry to hear about your dad, but I'm glad your kitty returned!

Nice job Kis,
I have just started to het to know Lady Trish and now I have a deeper understanding and appreciation for her. The situation with her father was really tough but sounds like she really handled it well; it's so great to be able to learn from situations in life, be they good or bad. Lady T is a truly talented, multifaceted individual (and a Red Sox fan to boot!).

Also, thanks for more on the history of the site.
As a relative newcomer it really helps. I'd also like to take this moment to thank everyone on this board for making me feel welcome and like a "part of the family".

Glad to have helped deliver the history lesson and that the Dee Smith mystery is solved. If anyone has been to that ezboard of SS lately, I must say that even though they have more registered users, our collective IQs are definately higher by 100 times.

GT, were you GT over there? I don't remember you... I haad that awesome name of Kismet.

I will be the first to agree that I needed about ten hours of corner time to cure me of my whining. Someone slap me silly if I whine to much again.

I am so glad I never left, you guys rock! Thanks for the kind words

Nope--I tried to register, and they weren't accepting any. Good thing, too! This is much more my style of dysfunctional family!

And thanks to webby's little jab about my tendency to rant , I am now aware that I was not just an early registrant, but one of THE first! I thought it was just an especially un-talkative bunch at first! Duh. . .
