RudyRules Cornertime with Kismet

<New cornertime introduction, followed by Kismet smiling into the camera. We see Rudy Rules sitting on his stool facing the corner. The timer reads 02:05:46.>

Thank you for joining us SB community. In the corner today is RudyRules. He is a relative newcomer to SB and save for Market players, he was a relative unknown until shakes cast him for Blowsvivor. He has been a fixture of the OT boards ever since. Welcome RR and thanks for the interview. Why are you in the corner and who sent you here?

I am in this corner because I was ordered here; AyaProbe and you told me I'd endure a "Skupin" if I didn't show up; but then you already knew that didn't you?

Yes I did, but the viewers did not.. How did you find this little community and why did you stay?

I originally found that other place, the one with my doggie's initials, <muses for a moment about the coincidence> then one day their site was down, I went to a search engine and found SB I found this site to have a wonderful variety of spoilers, some good, some a bit, shall we say, "out of the box" <rolls his eyes> as well as people with a sense of humor and good banter between members.

Then when Survivor Market was featured, that cemented it for me! <RR writes yet another letter to Webby, begging for return of SurvivorMarket-type game>

Okay, so who are your favorite posters and why?

As just about everyone says, I'm afraid I'll leave someone out, but here goes:

Kismet of course, the semi-evil news queen and Surv Market pal; OFG for her literary knowledge and analysis; Lady Trish - just because <wink>; Vamp - esp. now that she has expressed her undying affection for me LOL; flying squirrel - love the analysis and his pic plus Rocky and Bullwinkle is one of my all time favorite cartoons; sleeeve - always interesting spoilers; Shakes - same reason; JV - the resident Whine-o; Superman and his TTL; Surv - A really nice and funny guy; our benevolent dictator, AyaK; DangerKitty; GG; Moon - my favorite heavenly body; Misto; ItzLisa; IceCat; SChick; Mon Cherie; Pepe; EBug; KoKo; ZZ; the twins - Rio and Roni.<shaking at the thought that I've run out of breath and those whom I didn't name will be offended.>

Don't worry RR.. Why did you choose the nickname Rudy Rules?

Well, as one might surmise, I was really pulling for Rudy to win Survivor I. I admired the way he said what he thought and meant what he said. I believe Rudy Rules, hence the nickname.

How do you differ from your BV counterpart? Do you like the way you have been portrayed?

Frankly, I was surprised that Shakes picked me as a cast member, thanks Shakes! It's been a fun time. Well, as to your question: I don't take naps every ten minutes, although sometimes I'd like to. I have a lot of "survivor" type knowledge and would be far more active in building shelter, finding food, etc. I am a bit like RR, in that I'm not an extrovert and I don't do drugs. Overall the way I've been portrayed has been cool; I've enjoyed it immensely, esp. when new things come out like my supposed special forces training and assignment infiltrating the draft dodgers in Canada.

Yeah, the Canadian thing. Are you from Canada or not, and how did we get you so confused?

I am NOT Canadian! I live in Michigan. Perhaps being in rural Michigan is a bit like much of the great white north but I am not now, nor ever have been from Canada. My father was born a French-Canadian but moved to the U.S. at an early age and became a U.S. citizen, fought in WW2 and earned a bronze star for bravery in rescuing munitions while under constant German fire. Perhaps the picture I have of Rudy with the Canadian flag is part of the confusion, but I thought it a great pic., and shows my solidarity with the Canadian people. They are a much maligned lot among some of us here in the States!

Tell us more about yourself RR..

I do have one pet: Chips the wonder beagle, aka: SnoopySucks. It was great that I got to take her as my Luxury Item and I believe she has added a lot to Blowsvivor. I love to fish, swim, go boating, camp, work on genealogy, do dog training, and ski. I have a nice little family, including one daughter, whom I cherish. I have a faith in God, and He has seen me through tough times.

You are a massive flirt in the bar. Who do you enjoy flirting with the most.

Me, A Flirt?!? Surely you jest! <RR flashes a look of incredulity at Kismet who rolls her eyes.> Well, I believe a little harmless flirting keeps the old heart strong, of course I wouldn't engage in any myself mind you. But, IF I were to flirt, I would say the following members would be among my favorites: Lady T, Moon, Vamp, Ameylek, Misto, among others. All the beautiful women of SB deserve some harmless fun! BTW: You can flirt with me anytime Kis!

Oh yeah, because my own flirting is legendary of course.. Do you have any odd quirks that we should know about?

OK, my odd quirks, should I really be sharing this sort of thing? Well, When I get change I always arrange the bills so they all face the same way and in the same direction before depositing them in my wallet and I always give coins to the cashier all heads up. Am I neurotic??? You the viewers be the judge!

You are a speech therapist. Do you enjoy your work?

Actually, the correct title is Speech-Language Pathologist, but I won't hold that against you. Yes I do, there is a real satisfaction in helping people to be able to communicate, that is after all such an important part of being human.<Wishes he could help some of the SB members to communicate in a more human way! LOL>

Okay RR. Is there anything else you want us to know?

<RR scratches head, scratches Chips' belly, scratches Kismet's legs. Kismet slaps him and adds 3 hours to the timer while snickering.>

Ummm. Not really, just that I've enjoyed getting to chat with you wacky people and reading the posts, a few of them even make sense!

Thank you for the interview RR and thank you ladies and gentlemen for being so patient in between Cornertimes.

<I always give coins to the cashier all heads up.>

There is professional help for that Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder available. Unless of course, you are just trying to reassure the cashier you're not trying to slip in some of those pesky Canadian pennies which are undermining the whole U.S. economy.

When I find a coin on the ground, if it's tail side up, I kick it around until it's head up before picking it up. Something about good luck. I think. Maybe. Gets a little messy when I kick it under a car.

Great interview, RR! It's been nice to learn more about yourself and what makes you tick - not seeing you on here anywhere near as much as many others, it's not always easy to see what your true persona is like. Thanks for letting us have a look at who you are...

>Overall the way I've been portrayed has been cool;
>I've enjoyed it immensely, esp. when new things come
>out like my supposed special forces training and assignment
>infiltrating the draft dodgers in Canada.

Only fitting for a "cool" guy like yourself...

>I am NOT Canadian! I live in Michigan. Perhaps being in
>rural Michigan is a bit like much of the great
>white north

Yep, Michiganders are often seen as pseudo-Canadians because they typically are big (if not bigger) hockey fans like the folks on our side of the border, especially those close to Detroit. Always glad to have a pseudo-Canuck on board...

>Well, When I get change I always arrange the bills
>so they all face the same way and in the same
>direction before depositing them in my wallet
>and I always give coins to the cashier all heads
>up. Am I neurotic??? You the viewers be the judge!

You too? Don't feel so neurotic RR... you're not alone! I am particularly fussy about having my bills lined up neatly with the face forward and in order of denomination (the $5 always goes in front of the $10 and then the $20... every time). Coins don't bother me too much -- I just put them into the piggy bank for the most part.

Oh yes, that's something I forgot to mention in my Cornertime... my shirts and pants must be hung up in sections in my closet -- short polo, long pullover, pants, short button-up, long button-up, dress shirts, suits -- in that order. I also drive my wife nuts by asking her to fold my T-shirts in a specific way. Other than that... I'm your typical male with junk all over the place.

I (as well as the rest of the BV writers) appreciate the liberties we were able to take with your character. Rural Michigan, huh? Rural UP or LP? If LP, north or south?

As a former Michigander -- although the state said it preferred Michiganian during the time I was there -- it amazed me how rural most of the state was; by contrast, neighboring Ohio -- although it has large rural sections -- has many more significant cities and is much more urban.

One interesting point about your nickname: one of the most prominent posters during S1 on SS was named "RudyReigns" (real name Tim Gilman); he later started the Web site SurvivorNews.com and now generally uses the nicknames "snewser" and "Deep Kangaroo" ... but when I first saw your nickname, I wondered if you weren't another one of Tim's nicknames! I'm glad that you aren't and that we had the opportunity to meet you.

Thanks for sharing RR! LOL with you and Pepe about the paper money. My husband does the same exact thing! The coin thing is just weird.

Great job, as usual, Kismet.
