I know the winners get $1 million, but does anyone know how much the other teams get?

You would think they would not be so cheap to second and third place teams.

Disagree, the low value of the lessor prizes means getting first place *IS* job one. It puts fire into the racers if there is another team in sight.

They really should raise the value of the main prize to $5 million rather than $1 million. Call me crazy but $1 million isn't that much these days. After taxes they take home about $700K. Split it between two people it's only $350K each. In California or NYC $350K doesn't even get you a decent house.

It's kind of like that joke in Austin Powers about the ransom being - "one millllllion dollars" and every one starts laughing.

I do agree with you to keep second place and lower at small amounts. It makes people try harder.

You are right, maybe not 5 mill, but at-least 2 - a million each.

I know with careful spending I could retire for life with a million dollars, but I don't think so with just half a million.

I agree that the second place prize should be a sharp decrease, but even if they have to split $100,000, it's a far cry from $1 million, and anyone will tell you that you're going to fight like hell for that $1 million. When it's all in your hands, you can't just say, "Well, they don't like me, so I'm boned and I'll just play for second." At the very least, $50,000 and a couple of cars for second. Finishing second and getting $25,000 to split is kind of weak. Taking five or six weeks out of your life, going through all that stress, and getting only $12,500 to show for it is lame.

I disagree, the low value of the lessor prizes can't put fire into the racers cos the almost in every season who is number one and who is number 2 or 3 ,depends on some stupid taxi driver in last leg of the race!!!

The last leg is so short that nothing depends of quality of last 3 teams.
I can't agree that this 5-10 min delay worth 975 000 $.
No way.

Sorry, can't agree.

This last TAR I could see your point, but not for most past TARs.

The flag task at the end of TAR 9 had two teams fighting over that $1,000,000.

The map task at the end the TAR who's number must not be spoken was the same.

TAR 7? Again not the taxi drivers. True U&J taxi knew where to go but R&A were given a lot of time to catch up, worse Rob did not double check his information and end up going very far in the wrong direction.

TAR 1. If I remember right, the team that came in second, did so because they were from pitstop city and got too cocky and laid-back about already winning.

Anyone else? What role did taxis play in the final leg of the other TARs?

LAST EDITED ON 12-26-06 AT 05:03 PM (EST)

flag task at the end of TAR 9 --there was something wrong with that task ,but that's another story..

map task--maybe you have in mind tar 8

tar 7--tax drivers HAD the main role in the final--for both teams!!
tar1-taxi driver or green lights--whatever -but not the potential of the teams.

Even if some times "Ooo --thanks heavens" taxi driver don't decide who will be number one ,that doesn't mean that they can't do it next time.
Even if such things happend once --it's enough to see that it isn't right!!

But my point was ,that THE LAST LEG IS TOOO SHORT and task are 1 or 2 ..
How can be right to give someone 1 000 000 $ and another 25 000 just becouse one task (in most of the cases tooo simple).

In survivor 1st,2nd place are decided by jury having in mind the way that they play durring the whole game.

In Tar the team who won 11 first places ,can finish 3rd in the last leg.
That's the rulls of the game and we liked ,but the prices must have that in mind.

And last --if the only one award make the competition attractive ,silver and bronze medal must not be given in the olympic games for example
