Schadenfreude!

"Schadenfreude" is a German term for "shameful joy," or taking pleasure from others' failure and trouble. Now, I don't know why, but watching those teams smash bottle after bottle over each others' heads... Well, that was a pure schadenfreude moment. Especially for Lake and Michelle.

Poor Wanda and Desiree ended up finishing last, however. It was kinda deserved though. Going down the highway the wrong way is understandable. Doing it twice? Come on.

Doubling Up

Scores were generally pretty good this week, with popular picks BJ/Tyler and Eric/Jeremy having strong finishes. Joseph and Monica, with their 6th place finish did cost a few players some points.

This week's Greatest Gainer Award goes to esquire who moved up a cool 14 ranks to finish at #28 for the week. Nice job.

The Perfect Bet Award goes to both MzTee and lowerlashes, two new players to the game. Both of them doubled up their score plus a little extra, thanks to the 5 point bonus. Both of them turned their 10 points in 22 points. Congrats.

Not too much moving around in the Top 10 right now. Everyone's kinda staying in line, although the gap is starting to narrow a bit.

3rd place - 1.2x
4th place - 1.1x

Quite a jump between 1st and 2nd place... Make your picks carefully.

Bonus Game: Lucky 9

This should be a fun game. There are currently eight teams remaining. Obviously, their final ranks after this next episodes will numbers from 1 to 8. In this game, your job is to pick two teams whose final placement at the end of this week's episode adds up to 9.

For the sake of simplicity, better placements receive a lower numbered rank, as follows:

1st place = 1
2nd place = 2
3rd place = 3
4th place = 4
5th place = 5
6th place = 6
7th place = 7
8th place = 8

Therefore, you'd want to pick a combination of the 1st+8th, 2nd+7th, 3rd+6th, or 4th+5th place teams for this week. I don't care how you do it... As long as they end up totalling 9.

As with any Casino Game, you must wager some of your points. You don't have to play if you don't want to, of course. The maximum bet for the Bonus Game is 6 points.

Yeah, I know the regular game is "No-Limit," but I can't have you people gaining 600+ points on the Bonus Game...

Remember, you're only making one Bonus Game bet, even though you're picking two teams. Think of it as a single bet on a pair of teams. Your Bonus Game wager is affected by a Payout Table, similar to to the regular bets...

3-8, 10-15 - 0x

Maximum Bet - 6 points

Look at that. 6x. That's one big multiplier.

Remember, your Bonus Game bets are completely separate from your regular picks. Make sure you specify your bonus picks from your other wagers in your post. Also, remember that if you wager 6 of your points on the Bonus Game, you'll have 6 fewer points to make your other wagers.

Dear Jims,
While the bonus game sounds like fun, I think you're rooking the casino contestents on points in the game. I'm assuming if you bet 6 points in the bonus game, those points are held until its decided whether your two teams combine for 9. The minimum time held would be for the next five weeks or next five eliminations, if you happened to pick the fourth and fifth place finishers. (Obviously, it would be longer for 6-3, 7-2 and 8-1 combos.) If I was to pick the first place winner (or the team that was getting the 2x) for each of those weeks, I would have converted my six points into 192 points. But in your bonus game, I would only get 36.
Admittedly, I'm not sure I could pick the correct team for one week, let alone five weeks, but nonetheless, I say ....

Oh, nevermind.

I think there's a bit of misinterpretation of the rules. When I say "final ranking," I mean their final ranking at the end of this week's episode, not the entire race. So, all the ranks will be based on their finishes on Tuesday, which will complete the Bonus Game.

I don't think I was too clear in the wording of the game...
