Carolyn Wiger has been a scene stealer on Survivor 44. Whether she's completely fooling her tribe with random sticks spelling out the letter X, flipping the script on a big vote, or just making random noises and wondering if she's Felicia, Carolyn has been non-stop entertainment.
However, the fan favorite has a much more serious backstory that we've not yet seen on the show's first four episodes. We do, however, get a glimpse of it in an exclusive deleted scene from the latest episode.
In the day 8 scene, which you can watch above, Carolyn attempts to mend fences with tribemate Sarah Wade, who was blindsided when ally Helen Li was voted out, acknowledging that "it's universally awkward with us."
In an interview to the camera, Carolyn explains what she considers to be the big differences between she and Sarah. "I'm very emotional and she is the opposite. She's stone faced. She doesn't show emotions," says Carolyn. "But I'm a drug counselor, and part of my job is to have empathy. When I see someone who is holding back their emotions, I see suffering."
Speaking with Sarah and Yam Yam Arocho, Carolyn says, "I told myself when I got sober that I would never, ever hold my emotions in again." When Yam Yam asks why, Carolyn responds, "Because I held it in for so long. And holding it in did nothing but keep me sick and make me unhappy."
While Carolyn's past struggles are not something that we've seen on the show, she discussed her recovery openly in her pre-season bio, which counted her 13 years of sobriety and "raising my son in recovery" among her greatest accomplishments. When asked about the life experience that best prepared her for the game, she wrote, "Overcoming my addiction and learning how to forgive, love and accept myself. Active addiction is mental and emotional torture. It took me years to realize my mistakes don't define me. I've worked hard to become this person I am proud of."
Judging by how she has played so far, she indeed does seem prepared for the game. To see the full deleted scene for yourself — and find out why Sarah only hugs her brother once every five years — watch the video up top.

OMG, I love this promo! Did they edit a kind of "evil" laugh on Carson's part? He's my fav, just saying. I like that he's playing a devilish game. He's smart, he conceals things, he's strategic....if he can get to the end, he may one up Jesse from last season as I believe he could win those last challenges, perhaps?

They definitely edited in an "evil laugh"!
"It gives me a lot of Power!" (Evil Laugh)
Carson is all over the previews saying how much Knowledge he is acquiring and how much Power he has.
This feels like last week's previews of Dr. Josh saying how good he is with alliances with everyone in Soka when in reality he was at the bottom, got swapped to Tika at the bottom but played his Pre-Merge Idol to save himself.
So is Carson the decoy boot like Dr. Josh was and Carson will need to play his Pre-Merge Idol to save himself?

"Immunity Challenge"
Posted by Sheldor on 03-29-23 at 07:33 PM
Here is the Immunity Challenge layout
Note:
Ratu FIVE (so Matthew is still there) are walking in almost up to Jeff
Soka FIVE are walking in the middle of the challenge
Tika THREE are out of the photo. Need to come in last to reveal that Sarah was Voted Out.
I think this is likely a combined Reward and Immunity Challenge and the Press Release clue "Tribes must weave their way through the reward challenge to earn power in the game." even though it says "reward challenge" is referring to this combined Reward and Immunity Challenge and I assume the "power in the game" is referring to the Knowledge Is Power Advantage.
All 3 players are tied together 1) Climb through a bunch of branches 2) Climb over hurdles and under hurdles with two strings forming an X 3) Collect water in bucket 4) Climb up and down a giant teeter totter 5) Climb up stairs 6) Fill something that releases the giant net ladder to fall down 7) Cross net ladder on the ground 8) Complete Ball Maze challenge on pivoting platform
Competing:
Ratu: Brandon, Carson, Kane
Soka: Danny, Heidi, Matt
Tika: Carolyn, Josh, Yam Yam
Sitting Out:
Ratu: Lauren, Matthew
Soka: Frannie, Jaime

"Kane...."

While I think Carson is doing amazingly well as he assimilates into Ratu, Kane on the other hand....not so much. He definitely seems like he cares far more about the adventure than winning a game. Calling Brandon, Lauren, and Matthew "old"? I love that he's a geek, but it's beginning to seem like that's "all" he is.

Re: Calling Brandon, Lauren, and Matthew "old"?
Well Kane(25) and Carson(20) are both in their 20's whereas the others three are in their 30's or 40's Brandon(30), Lauren(31), and Matthew(43) so there definitely is an age gap in trying to connect socially.
Kane was at the bottom of Ratu and probably Carson has replaced him at the bottom but maybe Carson proving himself at the Immunity Challenge has moved him above Kane? In any case, I think those two are at the bottom of Ratu but Matthew is a risk to be medically evacuated.
