Funny how the promos started with Jonathan going all out Troyzan and then shifted to the Lisa shocker. Of course, to CBS hype monkeys Lisa aligning with the person she voted against last time, well isn't that a shock. And Michael too, double shock.

Are those fish she is holding?

Scarlett, love your adorable fish! And yes, those are fish in Lisa's hand, as Rachel and Karchita pointed out above -- good eye! I still think it looks like a puppet on a string and could be a metaphor for what happens this episode .

This could be great social play/jury management on Lisa's part if she's schmoozing and fishing with Kent while getting ready to blindside him. (Although Mike's quote that she's suddenly out to win could be a red flag.)

To avoid a purple rock/tie scenario, I think the veteran alliance's best bet is to make Pete/Abi/Artis realize what a physical/strategic game threat Jeff Kent is and maybe even plant the seed that Kent was talking smack about them. Kent taunted Artis in the mud ball challenge, so maybe rile that up again. And of course if Kent is outed, then they could say that Kent is a liar and not to be trusted.

P.S. Love the look on Artis' face in the vidcap with Malcolm....that guy is rarely happy.

LOL. It's only the quirky configuration of the three fish in that one vidcap, possible at only one frame stop, that makes the puppet appear.

Love the idea of Lisa throwing Jeff under the bus, though. If she can convince Power Pete to split the vote again (it worked so well last time) to send a message to Jeff that he can be cut for not being a team player, great tactic. Especially if it is true and Jeff does try to set things up so he can take charge somewhere down the line.

Agreed, Dabo. And they're going to have to pretend that Penner and Mike are on the outs....that's the real blindside.....lots of acting this week! Maybe Penner won't be brought in loop which could lead to him having his back against the wall and the TC clues.

Based on vidcaps, seems like Malcolm will play a key role and have to be in the thick of things selling the story to Artis and Pete.

In the video those don't look like real fish but rather fish made out of wood. I'm guessing that Jeff and Lisa went to get the tree mail for the Reward Challenge (which is out in the water as we see Lisa pulling a rope wearing a dive mask and entering the water) and that the item Lisa is holding is the clue for the Reward Challenge. Maybe those are the fish they need to retrieve from the water?

I was wondering about that myself, since the fish are on three unconnected strings rather than one stringer the way they would be when I go fishing. But hey, I'm a midwestern river and creek and lake fisher, what do I know about how Texans fish and string.

I re-watched the commercial and the first frames show Lisa holding that stick and the "fish" are wound up on the stick. She holds the stick out to show Jeff and the 3 "fish" drop down. Definitely NOT real fish.

ETA: So if that's their tree mail, this gives us a clue about the nature of the challenge. Must be the one where we see Lisa jumping in the water with the reel and wearing a mask.

This ad keeps showing up during daytime TV, and a few things have stuck out to me after listening to it over and over. We've had some key alliances revealed:

- The Power Trio - Artis, Abi, Pete
- Final Five - Power trio + Lisa + Skupin

We've also been previously shown Penner as the Dead Man Walking in prior promos.

The other person we're being shown in this preview is Jeff. That could mean Jeff is being targeted...or that Lisa is trying to get him into a plan with her. Both could be considered shockers to target instead of the dead man walking, but which one would be considered a move that could turn Lisa from a final five member to a potential champion?

If the Final Five stays together, then Skupin and Lisa know they're 4th and 5th. But if Lisa wants to make a move that could help her win, she'd need to move on the Power Trio. So since she's talking about blindsiding him, she could be referring to Pete or Artis.

Penner will go along with anyone else being the target. Malcolm and Denise would love to break up the original Tandangs to improve their standing. But that's still a 5-5 tie. Jeff and Carter would be needed to make sure there's no tie. Jeff could see the benefit of breaking up Tandang and getting rid of 2 IC threats in the process.

So basically, we have a group divided like this:
- Artis, Pete, Abi
- Skupin, Lisa
- Malcolm, Denise
- Jeff, Carter
- Penner

It could make sense for some of the pairs to get rid of that trio, and then there would be plenty of prospects to take power. Each of those pairs could see an opportunity, so this would be a great time to make a play after one of those three.

Bebo, I haven't seen any of the football promos, so I'm not sure where the "Final 5" stuff you mentioned is coming from? Is that just based on Tandang sticking together and pagonging everyone else? Based on edit/story line I was never seeing them sticking together as F5, so just was wondering.

I do agree with your description of the pairs/alliances. And I've been thinking if Lisa could convince Kent and Penner to vote together (after last week's betrayal and Kent's anti veteran sentiment) with their block (i.e. Malcolm/Denise/Lisa/Skrupin) and vote out either Pete or Artis, THAT would indeed be a huge coup and a major shocker. Hard to see it happening, but who knows. That definitely fits the blindside billing. But very hard to see that happening.

Pete is obviously the brains of the threesome...but Artis might be an easier sell as a target, given the HII in play. Edit seems to say that neither Artis or Pete are long for the game....yet Carter/Kent's story seems to be over too.

I still think Lisa has to be careful of jury votes and going against her original tribe/alliance too early. I think she has less to lose by going against a Kalabaw (Kent/Carter) right now. Basically comes down to breaking up the alliance of 3 or the other pair.

Penner is obvious boot target but what's to stop Artis/Pete/Abi from pulling in Carter/Kent and targeting Mike? I'm sure they'd think that Malcolm would go along with that and be their 6th vote and probably Lisa too. I don't think Malcolm/Denise will go to purple rock or use their HII for Mike or Penner. Of course Lisa has a supposed alliance with them and a little info/power over Malcolm but that's not a guarantee.

Seems like a very tricky week....especially with the tie prospect.....I love that we don't really know for sure how it'll play out! The prospect of a tie/purple rock should force some compromising. Cannot wait.

Lisa brings up the Final 5 in a confessional in the commercial:

As for your concerns about Penner and Jeff working together...they don't need Penner. He's just one. If they get Jeff, they get 2 votes (him and Carter) and can win 6-3-1 (Penner voting for whoever he feels like voting for that day). Or they can tell Penner and have a 7-3 vote. He's not needed to cause a blindside.

Lisa and Mike are tight - she would never go along with a vote against him at this point. Artis, Pete, and Abi think they have a good thing going with the other original Tandang there. If they were to stick together to make F5, then those three have the numbers to ensure they go F3.

I don't think Malcolm would go along with A/P/A. I think Malcolm would rather stick with the others because he would have a much bigger chance of winning individual immunity. Artis and Pete are bigger challenge threats than Mike. So are Jeff and Carter. So I think Malcolm would be more likely to have an alliance with the physically weaker individuals to increase his chance of winning immunity.

'Snake in the Grass'

Obstacle course w/3 stations to untie 3 bags of puzzle pieces...race across the black line. First 3 advance to final stage....puzzle solving. Large curved snake puzzle. Curved pieces w/designs on them. First to complete puzzle wins.

Thanks Blind Freddy! I thought that was a puzzle bag in the original vidcap with Penner and Skrupin. Puzzle solving should favor Penner, as long as he can make the finals.

If Penner indeed wins IC, that will take away the "obvious" target. Then Pete/Abi/Artis really have no choice but to go after Kent/Carter....or Mike.

Carter's face in the new press pics is priceless! He and Kent must know they're in trouble.

The way it works, 10 people will line up on platforms and on "go" you will race out and untie a bag of puzzle pieces. You untie a series of knots and climb over the first fence then you climb under the rail. You untie another series of knots, getting another bag of puzzle pieces and climb over that fence, then you crawl under the next, then you get another bag of puzzle pieces. Once you get all three bags of puzzle pieces, you sprint about 2 and a half feet across a line. The first three across that line move onto the final round where you will solve a puzzle. That puzzle is in the form of a snake. Take all those puzzle pieces and put it together in the puzzle table. The first player to get their snake together wins Immunity and will not be voted out.

Only 3 get to solve the snake puzzle. From Next Time On it looks like Penner and Skupin are 2 of the 3 finalsts...
