Dabo....Bill cannot be next because he is seen in the next episode in the water basketball challenge. The boot will be either Matt, Troyzan, or Monica. Everyone else is accounted for...including Chelsea...she is seen in front of Sabrina, a member of the orange tribe.

Shots of the girls tribe failing with the fire, Monica and Kat go and ask the guys for embers, with Colton dissing them - I'm Republican, I don't believe in hand outs, then so many shots of them MISERABLE, freezing in the cold rain in the flimsy shelter, and then Kim's confessional...

Kim: The problem is they're starting to believe we cannot win.

This is ALL classic misdirection because we already know this...

The girls are WINNING!

Please review the challenge shots here. I wouldn't be surprised if both these challenges were in episode 3, and I am banking on the women winning both....food for thought.

Thanks for posting the link, Jason! This proves that the belted challenge will be this episode, and that the girls will win it. Yes, Matt is in trouble because Colton and his misfits will strike...

I will wait for the vidcaps to come out, but it seemed like Troyzan was talking to Colton, with JAY, right in the middle saying, "Matt is so dangerous to me right now"...Has Colton told everyone but Matt that he has the idol???

I think "spike/disappearance" refers to either a big jump or a big drop in confessionals, Matt went from 4 in ep1 to 0 in ep2.

That is interesting. I thought for sure this was a RC. So dose that mean the Cocoa connection is the reward challenge? Or dose it mean there is no RC and the cocoa connection is in ep 4?

Easier to see in full size caps, but I didn't think they were worth posting. Instead of doing a dissolve, they did a cut-out from one sequence to the other. It's overworked, but I don't remember them doing it this way previously. Not subtle, of course.

Ok...what's happening here?
Ftr...both Troy and Matt have tan shirts on during the IC.

JP is yelling at the women: "you need to move women!"

And we have visible (l to r) Troy...JP....Michael. Troy and Michael are both looking away from the course action while JP is looking and yelling toward the course action. Troy and Michael have their blindfolds renmoved and don't appear to be doing anything but looking ahead.

Since Troy and Greg competed together and Matt and Michael competed together...it might be speced that Greg is off screen to the left of Troy and Matt is off screen to the right of Michael. However when the video plays, JP walks to the left and Greg is ot seen. But at the start of the sequence a tan shirt is seen to the right of Michael. Is this Matt?

Could they be watching Bill working to solve the puzzle? It's when the chal gets close to finishing that JP usually yells to encourage the other tribe to step on it. I can't imaginge that Bill could start to solve until all the teams and their puzzle bags were there at the end. Are the guys ahead at this stage? If so then the 'communication' problems remain with the gals. How do they pull it out to end up celebrating in the early vidcaps. Is Bill just unable to solve the puzzle?

Lots of questions here....any ideas?

Blindfolds off, and indeed Jeff only yells when the pressure is on.
It's been known to happen that someone chokes on a puzzle.

In the celebration, Matt and Michael, Troyzan and Greg are in the same order you just pointed out (with Leif in front of them). Kim is crossing open space to congrat Sabrina, who has finished the puzzle on the other side of the roped off area where the contestants are waiting, while Bill is not in the shot. He may be still at the puzzle station.


We don't see the puzzle station, but maybe the rock wall behind JP is part of the same wall near where the idol is sitting, which would be near the finish point?

I agree with OFG's assessement. They must get 3 couples to compete gathering puzzle pieces around the course blindfolded. Once they have their pieces, they bring them to a certain spot, most likely over by Jiffy. Then 2 of them perhaps, solve the puzzle. Looks like the girls are farther behind when Jiffy yells to them to pick it up! Then, as OFG specs it is most likely that Sabrina is a puzzle solver for Salani, and Bill most likely is one for Manono...

Good thinking OFG.

I had noticed the orange tribal mat before but just thought of it as the start mat. Perhaps it is also the finish mat as well.

This must be when they first start the chal...they are all bunched together with Greg and Troy still waiting for directions from Bill, their 'Caller'.
Note that Jonas' shirt clearly shows the patterns and has 'color' showing b/c it is dry at the start.
And also note the rope stretching across behind them.

Then later in the series we see Jonas and Leif back again at the mat area, only this time Jonas' shirt is very dark...b/c it is wet. Leif is standing somewhat separate from Jonas and far enough away that they *could* be unhooked? Jonas appears to be trying to find the red/orange puzzle bag dropped(?) on the ground? Are Leif and Jonas done with their task? While they still have their blindfolds on, they might have to wait blindfolded until all the pairs have finished their tasks and returned to the mat...then are able to take their blindfolds off.
Note the location of the blue tribal banner to their left and the location of Colton/Jay as sitouts and also the rope stretching across behind Jonas.

Now compare those locations(Colton/Jay sitouts) & blue tribal banner) with the celebration pics. They look as tho they tend to match up to the same w/re to that mat location.
Note the rope stretching across in front of the gals celebrating....and Sabrina appears to be on the other side of the rope barrier. Appearing to be returning to celebrate w/her tribemates after successfully completing the puzzle?

And finally...putting it all together...while I can't see the 'finish' the rope in front of Troy and Michael b/c it is low and the pic is a close up, I believe they are standing w/blindfolds off on their initial start and finish mat on one side of the rope watching while their Caller(Bill), out of frame, attempts to solve the puzzle on the rope's(unseen in this pic) other side.
Just as OFG and FloPo have speced above.

Always thrilled if I can contribute even a little to the vidcap spec.

I think you guys have it nailed with the two latest posts. I think that Leif and Jonas are most likely still tethered, as they are blindfolded. It probably goes take off blindfolds before release tethers.

I would have expected two puzzle solvers, but we see all the other girls on the other side of the rope. I don't see Jonas, but he's probably just behind Kim and the girls.

I think Jonas might be holding the basket here, and the black snorkel gear from the table is hanging on the horizontal pole to the right. So the men win and look pleased with themselves, which leaves the girls needing to make deals even more than before?

OFG: Agree, and thanks to someone for blowing up the reward table and noting the scuba gear and basket, clearly the guys are winning the RC. And, the elation at winning their first challenge and their first IC will be monumental for the women!

This seals the deal for me. VG has posted the ep 3 RC, and we now have the ep 3 IC, belted challenge, so the Coco Connection slingshot challenge will be the episode 4 RC. AFTER the RC, they WILL have the tribal shuffle. We know this because all of our survivors, less either Matt or Troyzan are definitely present post shuffle.

Coco Connection = RC ep 4
Water basketball challenge = IC ep 4

One thing that we always had right was the sequence. With the vidcaps we had of all of the challenges, we were able to place the belted challenge before the slingshot challenge, accurately!

I know OFG posted above that it looks like the guys win the IR but I thought I had seen a pic of girls with those flippers at their camp. Sure enough I found it. It was in the video I had downloaded to my computer of the promo earlier in the week. Here is the pic. It looks like if the guys did win some how the girls ended up with them. Check it out.

Just putting some caps together to try to get a sense of the story ...

We know that Day One is the storm, and the RC is probably the day after when they are miserable and cold, and dressed in warmest clothes. During that period, Christina and Monica beg for embers.

Here they are at the RC:

It might be afterwards when Alicia says that the guys' "deals" are not fair, because Jonas has on his long sleeved shirt, and Alicia is wearing the same brown top.
Alicia (talking to men's tribe): I just don't think your deals are fair.

When Jonas is holding the reward basket, it's not right after the RC, it's before or after the IC, per the clothing:



So, the men lose IC, why are Troy and Bill looking happy? Before IC maybe?

They are going to get soaking wet in the challenge and covered with the paint water, so maybe it's before.

We also see shots of the men in the sun with no shirts, and we see laundry around the camp. Maybe the shirtless scenes are post IC when they've taken off the soaked clothing?


Colton not shirtless but not wearing his green shirt that we see.

Here the frat boys are pensive and look kind of down -- no shirts.

Greg has what looks to me like a home made green bandage on his left shin at both RC and IC. I went back and checked and his leg was fine at the rope challenge. He did however have something tied around his leg while he did his little fireside dance on day 4. The new one seems to cover a much larger area so I think what ever is going on it must be getting worse. Wonder if we will hear anything about it?

It looks like he got a scrape on his shin during the RC on day 4. The scrape can be seen during Bill's confessional before they cut to Bill in his confessional spot.

It is actually raining during the RC, not that it's very obvious in single vidcaps. You have to compare one to the other to see it.

FWIW, Bill is wearing his buff as he did at the RC in that sequence. Also, not a huge point, but it is Troy holding the basket, not Jonas.

In the cap I had seen, Troyzan's arm was clearly not holding anything ...

I hadn't seen this cap ... posted by Kona at MESS.

So neither of them are holding anything ... it is just a moment where they are coming together and semi high fiving?

This is what I do when I see caps but I don't know where the video is to view the scene in motion. I lose track of which clip is which. This is the second time in the last few days I have made a mistake that I wouldn't have if I'd had the video context.

I think maybe we should be posting video links with the caps each time, if that is possible.

I also noticed in the EP2 pics where the men were shown with fishing gear. Those pics are obviously from EP3.

The photo is not from Ep 3, jasonkola. It has a time-stamp of Aug 4, 2011, which by TDT's calendar was Day 4 of the filming, first day of episode 2.

Press photos typically have a date stamp. Vidcaps we have no such luck.

The only way that pic can be from episode 2 is if the guys got that gear off the truck. They only won the tarp in episode 2. They do not have the reward with the fishing gear till episode 3 as shown above.

There is someone out there (well, more than one, but one who does it routinely) who knows how to read the timestamps. It can be a little confusing for establishing direct timelines, different cameras may be set for different time zones, but the differences are in hours not days.

guys, I checked the time stamp myself just now. The camera records the date the shot was taken and embeds it in what is called EXIF data, which remains viewable unless it is blocked or the image is copied.

The image was shot in Ep 2, which means the gear Jonas has came off the truck.

It seems really odd that they would have a reward challenge for something one of the tribes already has. It would seem to only benefit one tribe to win. Plus we have not seen any guys catching or eating any fish. I remain skeptical that they got that gear off the truck.

When the tribes arrived at camp, there was a sequence shown of Jonas carrying the fishing gear. For those who want to double check for themselves, it is at about the 13 minute mark of the broadcast time.

From a production POV, should Manono win fishing gear, lots of potential drama, deals to be made, feelings to be hurt, all the while a tribal swap looms in the horizon.

Oh Yah I had forgotten about that. Thanks for pointing that out I had been looking for evidence from the truck unloading scene. That saved me a lot of searching. So we are still do not know for sure if the women win or if the guys win and trade it to the women for something. I am leaning toward the women winning.

I'm not sure how to give proper credits for the caps I'm using other than to say I picked them all up here in this thread.


I think the women win RC and use the reward to get fire from the men

1st cap shows

fishing gear is the reward

2nd the women have them after RC

lower left.... and no fire

3rd Kat and Monica beg for an ember

and leave empty handed

4th Alicia says I just don't think your deals are fair

5th smoke from fire blowing around as Chelsea complains about being cold

You may have to watch the clip a few times to be sure for yourself but I'm convinced it's smoke.

6th men have the reward now

Interesting. I never thought of that option. That makes sense. I am just glad I was able to contribute with that pic. I think I am going to start downloading videos that are released and start going through them frame be frame. Survivor Fever dose a great job but they do not post every frame on the site as there is just too many frames in a video. I just wish I had as good an eye as some of the people around here at spotting spoiler evidence. I did catch those flippers though so I am getting better.

Now that it has been cleared up by OFG and VG that the swim fins and Hawaii'n sling were on the truck, they can't be part of the reward episode 3.

It is still possible that the snorkel and mask are part of the reward.

I personally can't find them pre episode 3 but that does blow my theory that the women trade the fins for fire. I still like to think that they did win and use the reward to barter, but with nothing left to back that up I have to say it's just speculation on my part.

Pic from episode 2 vid caps. I wish I knew how to read the time date stamp on these pics. I looked at the data my browser provided after right clicking and inspecting element. It shows me a ton of data related to the pic but i can not find the time date stamp.

I agree we are back to square one. I really think that looks like flippers and a mask on the left side of that cart. It suppose it is possible they put fishing gear up as a reward just to create drama to encourage the tribes to trade and negotiate if the winner already had the gear. Who knows. We do know the girls had flippers in their camp so either they traded for them or won them.

To get the time stamp on a photo, open the photo in a new window. Save it to a photo program (like iPhoto if you use Mac). When you view the photo, there is a box to the left with the EXIF data.

If the photo is copied, it will have the data from the day the file was last changed, so don't use a version that someone has marked up with arrows or anything like that.

Fishing gear is still a good reward, and about right for Ep 3. They don't like to actually give the tribes food this early on.

I have only seen the thumbnails posted so far (Kona at MESS), but the RC is called "Shut Your Trap." RC is run on Day 6, IC on Day 8. One day of camp life in the middle.
