"Log challenge a weight issue ?"

Posted by ryl on 03-24-03 at 03:26 AM
Just an observation regarding the log challenge (Ep 6 RC). Other than the survivors' ability to balance on the log and make the opponent fall, I was thinking if weight has a part to play in it. Note the challenge went as follows :

Matt - Roger (Matt wins)
Shawna - Heidi (Shawna wins)
Alex - Dave (Dave wins)
Jenna - Christy (Christy wins)
Rob - Butch (Rob wins)
Alex - Roger (Alex wins)
Shawna - Heidi (Shawna wins)
Matt - Butch (Butch wins)
Jenna - Christy (Christy wins)

If you realise the winner seems to be the heavier person of the two. Any thoughts ?

This really isn't a spoilers topic so don't be surprised if it gets moved to another forum (Fanatics or Bashers)... but having said that, many things about this game isn't always fair. To MB's credit, it did seem like they tried to mix it up for the men's matchups although I was glad they kept the Jenna-Christy matchup together as it looks good on Jenna to get her arse kicked twice by someone she's dissed previously.

Means nothing at all in the whole picture of things with the show and it's in the past.

Thank you PepeLePew13 for reminding me this isn't a spoiler topic, I was so excited about posting here for the first time that I didn't realise it was at the wrong place.

Actually when I brought up this topic I didn't mean to say if the challenge was fair or not. Upon seeing Heidi and Jenna lose to the same person twice, we may tend to think how bad they are at balance, which may not be so. The weight issue is just a possibility. Shawna and Christy are heavier than them (I think). I suppose it's harder to control the log if your opponent is heavier that you ? Maybe we can look at the men and see if it's true. Just an observation.

You may be onto something with weight being a deciding factor, but only where all other factors are essentially equal. Age could be an issue here (slower reflexes) as well as general health and so on. As for this sort of thing not having any spoiler value, I disagree; it may not seem to have any immediate spoiler currency but who knows what the future challenges will be or how dissecting past challenges could help us spoil those outcomes.

I think the only thing this has to do with spoiler is to maybe point out who may be an immunity threat later. The players who performed very well may be targeted before the players that did poorly.

Good point. Conversely, Jenna probably impressed everybody with how clearly not an immunity threat she happens to be. Wonder what she did with her crown.

To the extent that it may be a balance issue, that might be a factor to consider for this week's pole-standing challenge.
