Wooo Hooo, Ice! Wait till Supe sees this! *grin*

However.. I think if he DOES undertake this.... massive responsability... I should remove myself from the competition. Conflict of interest and all....*wink* Maybe I could be on the editing crew??? *giggle*

"The Running Man, Part 2?"
Posted by AyatollahKhomeini on 06-11-01 at 10:17 PM
Why does this post remind me of "The Running Man," when Arnold Schwarzenegger's character returns from the "game" and takes over the network? Anyway, this is OK with me as long as we see E2 this week. Go for it!

"This is television, that's all it is. It has nothing to do with people, it has to do with ratings!" -- Richard Dawson, in "The Running Man"

Didn't that come from a Stephen King short story? I remember reading it.

Brilliant, Cat Man.

"Richard Bachman"

Hi, volmel. Nice to see you over on Off-Topic. Yes, this movie is based on a novella of the same title that Stephen King wrote under his Richard Bachman pen name.

I'm no fan of Arnold's, but I enjoyed this movie. Mick Fleetwood and Dweezil Zappa play revolutionaries, but the key to the film is Richard Dawson's parody of his game-show-host role on "Family Feud." Without Dawson, this movie would have been a lame vision of an Orwellian future; with Dawson, the movie has contemporary relevance.

Is this the same Richard Dawson who played the Brit prisoner on Hogan's Heroes? I know, I could look it up, but you seem to know all, AK (meant in the nicest way).

Yes, Dawson played Corporal Newkirk on Hogan's heros and hosted the game show The Family Feud for many years in the 70s and 80s.

Do you know what I thought was really stupid in that movie? That stupid Opera guy that is sent in to kill Arnold Schwarzenegger. I thought the guy with the flame thrower was cool though.

>I'm no fan of Arnold's, but

--Really? I think as a movie on it's own it was fine, but comparing it to the book, it made me mad. They changed so much of what was great and tragic about the novella. I know they couldn't have Ah-nold dying at the end like in the book, but something a little truer to the book would have made me happier.
Just me griping, that's all.
, but the key
>to the film is Richard
>Dawson's parody of his game-show-host

--I agree with you there AK, Dawson was great. I think it made him very happy to portray the "smiling MC" in a way he would have liked to have done in real life!

Hmmm...let's see....approximately 5:30 PM last night, left work...still on Shakesvivor....6:50 PM, met up with buddy Kirsten and went to see "Bridget Jones' Diary"... still on Shakesvivor at that point.... 6:52 PM bought popcorn and soda....still on *that* show from what I can tell...9:30 PM went out for coffee with Kirsten after movie..yup, yup, still on Shakesvivor...home by 10:40 PM, called boyfriend at work... still, *to my knowledge*, as I hadn't logged on yet, on Shakesvivor...11:30 PM, tried to log on, but thunder and lightening powersurged and shut my computer off...*thought* I was still on Shakesvivor...6:25 AM...log on - am now on SUPESvivor - and in the middle of bizarre conversation about Richard Dawson!

Okay! That clears it up for me! When do we start playing??? ("Survey SAYS...")

Yes, Ice, the big shiny button worked beautifully, thanks! (Ice Ice Baby, now can ya help me with my sig pic?? *wink* hee hee!)

Vampers, my buddy pronounces her name "KER-sten", but alot of people pronounce it "KEER-sten", and she doesn't correct them! On top of it, her family's nickname for her has always been "Kristy", which you'd think would be short for "KRIS-ten" - it's all very confusing, but she's worth it as she's a wonderful friend! (I myself have just nicknamed her "Kirst", pronounced "KERST", LOL!!!)

Edit to add: "Bridget Jones' Diary" was a very cute movie! Not the greatest thing you'll ever see, but faithful enough to the book, very fun and worth seeing! Hugh Grant and Colin Firth beating the crap out of each other in the street to the strains of "It's Raining Men" was one of the funniest things I've seen in a movie in a while!

Hmmm... found this on the Reuters Newswire - does anyone know if Shakes is in Egypt right now?

Tuesday June 12 7:52 AM ET

Failed Lawyer Strips Outside Court

CAIRO (Reuters) - Police arrested a lawyer who stripped naked then set fire to his clothes outside Cairo's supreme court in protest at what he called a conspiracy to strip him of success, police sources said Monday. (See?? The Clown's blamin' us for taking over the show from his control, I knew it!!!)

The lawyer said after his arrest Sunday he believed colleagues had connived to strip him of victory in all his cases by using loopholes in the law, leaving him no other means to seek justice. (Okay, so we connived a little, we're only human....)

Man! You would not believe how long it takes those big funny red shoes to burn! They're like Duraflame logs, I swear!

"Gameplan"

LAST EDITED ON 06-12-01 AT 01:20 PM (EST)

OK, gang, here's the gameplan. In the glorious(?) tradition of Chairman Mao, we're going to have a Cultural Revolution here at SB.

E2 will be posted soon -- written by someone else, not shakes, Supes, or me. I have a volunteer to write another one of the episodes. Is anyone else interested in creating one of the episodes of Shakesvivor/Supesvivor? If so, please e-mail me.

Edited to add: Hmm, BadAs snuck in with E2 when I was least expecting it! OK, here's the writing order for the first 6 episodes (if Superman agrees to it):

E1: shakes -- booted: desert_rhino (BB)
E2: BadAs -- booted: skierdude10 (AA)
E3: Outfrontgirl
E4: Superman
E5: SherpaDave
E6: idiotcowboy
E7: AyaK or Superman

We'll pick up with E7 after Superman has has a chance to give us his thoughts. In this lineup, there is no need to write Supe or Vamps out -- since they may be gone at the hands of one of the writers at any time!

I ask each of the writers to remember that the producer will try to stack the Immunity Challenges in favor of the team that has fewer people (remember the maze?).

AyaK,

I respectfully submit my desire to write one of the episodes. I think that I could do a great job. So, put me down for one if that's okay.

AyaK,

I too would like to throw my hat in the ring if only because I can integrate the Lame-O Show.....kill two birds with one stone as it were. I think SherpaDave is right, we need soemone not 'in' the game to offer perpsective . It doesn't have to be me, but it just seems a good idea to have one person do a single episode. If you still have an empty slot, I'd be happy to fill in.

You're in as well, GG...

"I want to write one also!"
Posted by not shakes on 06-12-01 at 07:10 PM
Count me in! I know a lot of you don't know me yet, but I have a lot to offer to Shakesupesbavivor....first of all, I was there, and I worked for the clown until he recently passed away in an unfortunate VW Bug suffocation incident...in fact, did you know that 1000's of clowns die that way every year....its quite tragic, but I digress.

Anyway, I think I have the qualifications to write one of these episodes....AND, I offer something that none of the other writers can offer.....stolen documents from the clown's personal file cabinet, I'm talking about private secret correspondence between shakes and some of the contestants as well as information that was unveiled during shakes contestant background checks...stuff shakes didn't want you to know about...but, I've got it all!

Pick me....cause I was there.

OK, not shakes, you're in too. Glad you weren't injured from all of The Clown's antics.

P.S. I saw that WGN cancelled the Bozo the Clown show as of yesterday. Bad week for clowns.

AK!! This has turned out to be quite a _____vivor Season!! LMAO! And Hooray!! I don't have to withdraw from the game! I sooo look forward to reading all of the talented writers Ep summaries!!! Especailly OFG's..(will she use this oppurtunity to further her own tribes chances? Or sabotage them?)And Supe's.. (will he get rid of the Vampire in an episode shocker?) lol.. Oh so much fun!!

AK.. I have e mialed Supe with all that has transpired since he has been gone, along with all links that I felt would help explain and catch him up.. I can say with a fair amount of certainty, that he will be thrilled to write Ep.4, and I have told him to e mail you with his decision, ASAP.

I love our Cyber Town!!!

(Perhaps when it's all over, Webby could put the ______vivor Summaries in with the Survivor Ep. Summaries, so all can read what talented posters we have here for a long time to come!! )

Why thank you Vamps!

(damn I hate it when people expect me to be good at what I signed up to do. Look at Pen, he has no doubts about his abilities. Must be a dragon thing)

"Especailly OFG's..(will she use this oppurtunity to further her own tribes chances? Or sabotage them?)"

Allow me to state: We are forgetting our discussion about fictional characters when we speak of cast members writing the episodes. The cast members are all fictional characters whose very being depends on the whim of the writers, the producer, the studio, the sponsers...Desert Rhino...

The episode-writers, on the other hand, all consist of posters to this board temporarily assuming the disdainfully discarded mantle of the poster formerly known as His Royal Clownship (ewww, and it's stained too, and it smells funny).

No conflict of interest exists that I am aware of.
(Now who's my friend? And who can say the nicest things to me?)
That was NOT OFG interrupting just now. Ignore her.

GT, since you obviously feel scorned by the clown, here is a copy of a letter he wrote to you shortly before his unfortunate demise......maybe this could help you out....

Dear GT,

I am sorry that I ruined your life by "bailing gracelessly" from my daunting shakesvivor responsibilities. I know how much you were relying on this season for....well, whatever the hell you were relying on it for...who's to say, I sure can't figure it out.

Of course, everyone who reads this board (except you) knows that I more than fulfilled my responsibilities by delivering the one thing I promised.....ONE EPISODE. Additionaly, I never said that I wasn't going to write additional episodes...that is, I never said it until you became such a raging jerk about it.

One question...all kidding aside, are you serious about this?? Are you really getting upset about this crap, cause if you are I think you need to take a long look in the mirror cause that is truly pathetic.

Formerly Yours,

Shakes

As is her wont, GT is quoting Firesign Theatre at you ... in particular, from the finale of I Think We're All Bozos On This Bus -- an appropriate choice, considering whom she was writing to...

Best answer: "I'm not making the boards anything!"

Awww shakes. . . for someone so cocky about his overdeveloped sense of humor (and your assertion that no one else here compares--I believe the direct quote is that anyone but you would SUCK), I can't believe that you just don't get it!

And I really don't think you should be speaking for anyone but yourself, since you obviously haven't a clue about what anyone else thinks--or a firm grasp on what you've actually said in the past.

Sorry I made you uncomfortable by hitting the mark on your "real" personality--but you DID say that your whole purpose in coming here was to piss people off enough so you'd be lambasted mercilessly for LC. Assuming anyone cares by then, I'd say you've done a pretty good job!

And for future reference, a "posthumous" letter should not contain references to events AFTER the fact. . . makes for difficulties following the plot when the so-called deceased quotes dialogue occurring after he's gone. . .

Scorned? No--just disappointed you didn't have the class to bow out gracefully, instead of letting everyone wonder what was taking so long. In case you hadn't noticed--or cared (obviously)--a lot of people HAVE invested a lot of time and effort here, and were quite enjoying creating their own niche in the whole scenario. As shakes, you may ridicule the idea that anyone else could do as well as yourself (and maintain a double standard as to what is, indeed, pathetic)--but as BA has already proven, the concept HAS easily outgrown its creator. I'm sure it's going to be a wacky ride from here on out and our community will have a ball sharing in the vision. You can let go of that onerous responsibility now--and the defensiveness that went with it.

GT
I say Live it, or live WITH it!

I would like to write one of the episodes if there are any openings. Unfortunately, I can't write is between July 19 and August 7 because I'm off on a trip so if there are still any episodes open outside of this time frame I'd like to write one. Thanks.
