"A dilemma"

Posted by SherpaDave on 06-15-01 at 01:04 PM
Okay... I've got some stuff that's been handed to me by one of the BV contestants regarding why Shakes left the show. It's great stuff (and the person who wrote it should really get the credit), but...
Since there seemed to be a lot of raw nerves about Shakes' departure, I'm not sure whether or not I should post it. Again, it's funny, it explains well why SV turned into BV, and it would help the continuity of the show. But I don't want to start up a lot of nasty feelings that finally seem to be calming down.
So that's my dilemma. Do people want the goods (and the bad that comes with 'em) or do folks just want to let sleeping clowns lie?

What dilemma?

Dude, I posted a picture of "Puff the Magic Dragon," with the implication that the clown was the intended target.

Post away, man.

Who, me, BA? Have you seen a Not Outfrontgirl on this board leaking stuff from the show? I'm just writing an episode with a deadline and I hardly have time to be concerned what happened prior to Episode 2.
That said, sure Dave, clear up the mystery for us.

You know, I fear that this might just spark up a back-and-forth argument thread. There are some strong feelings on either side, from what I gather, and do we want it all aired in this fashion?

I'd like to hear AyaK's take on this before you post, Sherpa. Maybe there is another way to bring this info out. Your spoiler threads are fun, and I would love for them to stay fun!

Between whom? If you are worried about that, have Webby make it a "read-only" thread.

Why not? Make it public so we all know, not just the few that heard it first hand in the bar.

Send an email to everyone that's interested?

What do spoiler thread's have to do with the information Sherpa is harboring?

For my two cents,
I hear on the grapevine that whatever bad feelings there were have been worked through and Shakes seems to be back posting. You didn't mean to say this stuff was really nasty to anyone, did you Dave? Is it just clowning around?

Cher, I mentioned spoiler thread because Sherpa does those, and I interpreted his statement that it would tie into the show as being related to that. And, it would be too bad if that turned into something else. That's all. I was just voicing my thoughts on it, and certainly don't want to turn it into an argument with you.

Also, to Dave, upon further review and with further information, I trust the parties involved to handle it well. I withdraw my request to ask Ayak and never mind about my concerns! This should be interesting!

Coupla quick points.
1) One of the reasons this stuff came to me was that it was specifically requested by one of the traditional leaders of these here boards that it NOT be included in an episode. Frankly, I'd still rather see it there for continuity reasons, but so be it. Said person *cough BA* has since weighed in that I should post it, which leads me to wonder: why is it appropriate as spoiler info but not as part of an episode summary?
2) Like much else about SV/BV, it's a piece of fiction (I hate having to clarify that, but it seems there might be some confusion). It's a plot device to remove Shakes from the show, not an actual account of why Shakes stopped writing the show.

Having said the above, I think I'm gonna go with DK's opinion on this one. I think it's probably pretty harmless, but AyaK has laid down some very sensible guidelines for the remainder of the show, and I'd like to hear his opinion on this. Hopefully, hearing everyone else's opinions will make his decision easier.

So.... if AyaK gives it the green light, I'll post it here. Sound like a plan?

The joy of simeoultaneous posting!!

I retract as Sherpa agrees! Well....it'll all work out. Goes to show, when we have partial info, we each fill in the blanks our own way. This is all a lot different than what I interpreted the original post to mean. The main thing, if it is in the spirit of fun and fiction, that makes all the difference to me, anyway.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!

Okay, I just talked with BA in the bar and it really does seem like the issues people had are resolved, so I'll go ahead and post so the storyline will make a li'l more sense. I don't think it'll stir up a firestorm, but if AyaK disagrees, I'll be more than happy to see the thread removed. Fair? Good.

I knew this was gonna happen. Of course, as soon as I posted this, I checked my email... and found all kindsa good stuff. I'll be starting to work on the vidcaps while I await the final text from my "source." Hopefully, between the two of us, we'll get this up before BA pops a vein.

As long as the "information" that was leaked doesn't undermine anything being done in E3 (in other words, if it's OK with OFG -- and she implied that it was, in her post above) and isn't excessively nasty, let's see it! If there is anything in it that blasts me, so much the better...

Think AyaK is tired of being the nice guy all the time?

E Bug, you got me wondering about this.

AyaK still seems like a really nice guy, but if you'll check the page for Sherpa's post on the Clown Death, you'll see that his new power has really gone to Aya Probe's head!

Lucky for him he missed the blast, or was that a little hint that he too wishes he could escape his weighty responsibilities?

Wanna hear something funny? This whole thing made SlurpeeDave flash on a possible parallel with the drummers from Spinal Tap. . .

If I were a producer of this mess, I'd be ever-vigilent. . .
