I agree, and in fact it looks like the mission was more than just "screwed up", some bad stuff happens.

I agree that the mission appears to go badly, but I didn't get the impression that Yaney was the leader. It was definitely a white male, which rules out Jackson and Wolf. Moretti probably can't be squad leader in back to back shows. So that only leaves Yaney and Lauder.

Lauder was considered the "MVP of the Move Everything Over The Hill" mission. Would they reward him for his efforts by making him squad leader in the next mission?

It's just a thought. Don't beat me up too bad, Shakes!

...I watched the preview a couple of times and I am 100% sure that it is Yaney....in fact in one scene the DI's address him while wearing the orange jersey (doing pushups after the mission goes bad)
