I was curious about this show, so I Tivo'd it. A nice surprise too. I liked the beginning where it basically did a recap of the prior season. Ok, it seems like ER, but it seems all the doctors and the interns are doing each other. For Patrick Dempsey's wife to preside over the chick he was screwing? For O'Malley getting syphillis because another intern was screwing with another intern? For Sandra Oh's character to get pregnant by the acting chief? LOL I'll be watching this show now. Loved it.

I do like this show. Been watching since last season. George was hysterical in this episode.

We had the same problem. Tivo didn't get it because everything was so scrambled from the Superbowl.
If it's a two-parter like I've heard, then chances are it won't be replayed until much later. (regular re-runs)

Oh the drama on this show! I love it! My curiosity for this show got me hooked now. I'm more interested in this show than Desperate Housewives. Will Dr Shepherd sign the divorce papers or go with Grey? What to do...what to do.

Gotta admit...it was a great kiss followed up with a "good night". Don't forget that male pregnancy - what was it they took out of him? Oh, and don't forget about that lady catching on fire during the surgery! LOL!!!

Great ep last night.Meredith had been ticking me off because she was just so whiny, but I thought it was great how she was the voice of reason when it came to handling that poor family.
Loved the husband's response to his wife surviving even though her heart caught fire, and the following scene with Burke and George was priceless. George holding the purse and asking Burke which one of them got to tell her, then putting his hand on Burke's shoulder? I was roaring.
And even though I still don't like Alex, both of the kiss scenes - the non-kiss with the girl and the one he finally planted in Izzie - were wonderful.
Bailey just completely rocks. If Chandra Wilson isn't nominated for an Emmy, I'll be one ticked off Grey fan. She just adds to much to every single scene she's in.

"Spot on!"

You voiced everything I was thinking about last night's episode, Bebo. I'm not an Alex fan either, but damn when he has moments he has awfully good ones.

This is just a REALLY condensed version:The Doctors Shepherds' closest friends come to the hospital where the wife wants to have radical preventive cancer surgery performed. The husband is conflicted. The wife's doctor is Allison Shepherd and is supporting the wife. Derek Shepherd isn't so sure. He convinces the husband to be there for his wife relating to his own marital problems. At the end, the wife has the surgery and the husband shows up for support.
In the previews, you see George O'Malley eating a bagel where it gets "dookied" on by a pigeon. He drops the bagel on the ground, the pigeon is pecking at it, and a man falls from the sky onto the pigeon. The man survives with just a broken leg. George is just amazed with the seconds from survival, but the man just wants to move on. George finds out he was trying to commit suicide. With the man's request, he asks George to find his girlfriend who also works in the hospital to tell her that he's sorry. George finds the girlfriend, but she wants nothing to do with him. George returns to the man, and tells him that she was on vacation. The man then dies on the table before surgery even begins.
An older couple finds out that his wife has terminal cancer and has about 6 months to live. The husband doesn't want his wife to know. Grey tells the wife, and the wife urges her not to tell her husband. Soooo, either doesn't know the other knows.
Cristina and Burke try to have a normal date, but things go awry when another restaurant guest collapses. They then move into "doctor mode" and assist. Later, Cristina comments that it was the best date she's gone to.
Chief Webber is disappointed to find out Dr. Bailey's decision not to accept his fellowship. Only later does he find out that Dr. Bailey is pregnant.
There was a minor sub story on Alex & Izzie's romance developing. Alex & Izzie are kissing in the locker room, Izzie slaps him and walks out smiling (hidden from Alex).

Most memorable? Alex's technical "malfunction" with Izzie and Steve's technical "malfunction" with Meredith and then Dr Shepherd finding out.
Oh, and because Izzie couldn't get some, she was horny the next morning telling O'Malley she wanted sex now. O'Malley politely declined.Alex is such a jerk. For him not being able to get it up for Izzie, instead getting it up for that one nurse he gave syphillis to? As I think about it, I think it's all in his head. I think because he didn't pass his medical boards, he has this inferior conscience; therefore, he can't get it up for Izzie. But for that one nurse, oh yeah!

go to Burke's for the night. He leaves earlier than she does the next morning and leaves her a key to his place. This freaks her out. His place is so neat it looks like no one lives there. He asks her to move in with him later in the episode. She takes drastic measures, thinking if he sees where she lives he'll change his mind. BTW, why is this woman resisting this perfect man? I'll never know. Anyhoo-they go to her apartment. The place looks like a clothing bomb exploded. She admits she's a slob and he did look a little uneasy when she said "so do you still think living together is a good idea?" They stayed there a while-looked like they managed to get pretty comfortable on the floor

This is my all time favorite show. Does anyone have any spoilers for this awesome piece of nightime joy?![]()

Meredith Grey: "Okay, here it is, your choice... it's simple, her or me, and I'm sure she is really great. But Derek, I love you, in a really, really big pretend to like your taste in music, let you eat the last piece of cheesecake, hold a radio over my head outside your window, unfortunate way that makes me hate you, love. So pick me, chose me, love me.

I just watched my first episode last week. it was the one with the five babies. It was really good. I wish I had started watching this show earlier in the season. I love ER and this show is a lot slower paced, it seems to me. I like that, and how you get to kind of know the characters a little better. I will probably continue to watch it. Its good.

The little boy made me cry when he explained why he didn't want the heart - his mother had prayed for another child to die. Powerful moment.Yet another awesome Christina-Burke episode. Loved it when he explained why his spirituality got him through those moments of feeling completely powerless.
But the line of the night was definitely courtesy of Izzie...

I'm from Sacramento, CA. I went to a friend's house to watch the Super Bowl. My Tivo was scheduled to record at 10pm. I get home just in time to find a recrap of Desperate Housewives, and then the local evening news. WTF?!

I check the local news website, and it says it aired it at 7:15pm? WTF? I'm so pissed! Hopefully, writing a polite e-mail to my local news station will re-air it before Part 2.
I can read the recap, but it's just not the same! AAARGH!

Not to rub salt in your wound, but last night's show was very good. Here in Toronto it had 2 start times - one was the delayed start after the SB, and the other was at the regular time (I guess that station didn't have SB broadcast rights, so aired it on sched).Good luck finding the show.

LAST EDITED ON 02-06-06 AT 09:15 PM (EST)Thanks - I'll be looking for it.
I even e-mailed a polite message to ABC hoping they would re-air it on a dead night such as Saturday night. I checked ABC's message boards, and it seems a whole bunch of viewers (especially us West coasters) didn't get to see it either. I'm guessing it could be done; it was done with a previous Alias episode.
Otherwise, I'll just have to hope it's somewhere on the internet for viewing.
Edit: Woohoo! Just google the show for downloads, and I find it on the internet! Awesome show - love it! Great mood now.

Unfortunately, I never watched any of the first season or this season up until last night and I need to try & catch up.I hate it when I tune into a show & love it, only to miss the beginning storylines to really get into the characters & such.
I was under the impression this was some silly soapy fluff -- just a bunch of interns sleeping with each other. Guess I was wrong.

The second half really lived up to the first, what with George seeing his shower scene in a different context. But I have to say that when Dr. McDreamy replaced the bomb squad guy in her vision, I though Dr. McDreamy suffered by comparison.

Parts of it were good, but I thought the two-part epi was the weakest to date. Last night's epi was particularly erratic in its presentation; it was almost as if the writers had too much going on. And that insipid dialogue at the end b/w McD and Meredith? Puh-leeze! Maybe that tugs your heartstrings when you're 20, but mature folks were probably barfing.I hope this arc was just for the benfit of SB audience. It had an ER feel that makes me shudder.

Likes:Everything George. Stayed completely true to his character.
Everything Burke. Maybe it's just major lust for Isaiah Washington, but the Burke-Christina and Burke-Shepard interaction was great. And yes, I was yelling at the TV at the end of the episode, when Burke and Christina were in bed. I wanted Christina to tell him that she loved him too, but I hoped that Burke would open his eyes so that we knew he heard it.
Everything Bailey. As a woman who went through labor three weeks ago, I could totally relate.
Dislikes:
Did not like how Izzie was written this episode. The inappropriate laughing? Didn't fit with her character. It felt thrown on, like the writers thought it would be good for someone to laugh inappropriately, and decided to have Izzie do it since they couldn't think of anything else for her character to do during the episode besides boink Alex.
The Chief's anxiety attack. Felt melodramatic on top of the other crises. And the timing was ridiculous, happening right after Alex and Izzie complain that they don't have anything to do. Fine, here, take care of the Chief.
The Meredith-McDreamy stuff. His monologue at the end got ridiculous. I no longer care about them as a couple.

Meredith & Shepard both have that "on the verge of tears" all the time look to their eyes. Shepard's wife looks way older than both McDreamy & McSteamy. And why on earth does she stay with this loser in his little trailer? What father, after 20 years of not seeing his daughter, steps out onto the step and closes the door behind to talk to her? What was that all about?
Meredith fell into George's arms awfully easily.
Loved the kitchen/toothbrush dance start, and the "gave up the appartment" ending. I like this couple.
"RE: Feb 19 epi"
Posted by Bebo on 02-20-06 at 11:56 AM
Oh.my.heck.This has got to be the first show in a long time that deliberately works to make the viewers hate the title character. When George was trying to talk to her, and she was in her own little world per usual, I was getting more and more aggravated. Especially after watching cocky plastic surgeon ogle over her - what is it that has all of these men falling over themselves for her? I just don't see it. And then when she started taking off George's shirt, I was thinking, "Oh no, she is not." Then I saw the previews, and I have decided that I hate her. Did like her comment about her mommy being a whore, though.
I was feeling so sorry for Addison. Funny, when her character was first introduced, I never thought I'd say that. But McDreamy's comment that he hasn't forgiven her but is obligated to try was painful...and great. That one line summed up so much of McDreamy's reasons for trying to make it work with her, and was far more effective than last week's ridiculous soliloquy about their last kiss.
Meanwhile the show continues writing better and better for Christina and Burke. The dancing at the beginning was so cute, and the scene at the end was just wonderful. They are my favorite couple on any show by far.

I don't hate Meridith. I still find her likeable. She may be sort of self centered, but that's just her character. I'm not looking forward to her hooking up with George. He's a nice enough guy, but he's kind of a spineless loser. Meridith is better than that.

Okay. Between Bebo's fantastic link and last night's episode, I see where they were going. Loved Christine (He's the weak kid. Even I don't pick on them)but if Burke had allowed her the space to keep her apartment, George would not have been on their couch. George's description of "had sex" in the stairwell seems not to have been accurate. Attempted, perhaps. Poor George, no wonder he was so upset. Making a girl cry during sex can't be good for the ego. (And especially bad was "Are you done".)
I hope Baily has a really short maternity leave. Her shutting out of the chief and dialogue with him were great. I miss her on a more regular basis.
Dr. McDreamy's laughter with his wife about the poison oak seemed almost healing, until he met up with Meredith to be 'just friends'.

I'm just getting acquainted with this show, beginning with the bomb episode. I have to get my hands on the 1st season & get up to speed on everything.Meredith (Squinty-eyes) is a little irritating to me.
I like puppy-dog George, the surgeon lady's interest in him will be good for his confidence, but I don't like them as a potential couple.
I LOVE the Christina character (my fave) & her relationship with Burk.
My other fave storyline is the blond model doc with the heart transplant guy. I'm ready to cry next week.
McDreamy is a cutie, but his back and forth is irritating. I'd rather see him with his wife -- especially after this episode & his realization that he was indifferent to her & partially to blame for her affair(?). I'd like to see them work it out, but I guess the McDreamy/Meredith thing is what they want us to root for.
Here is a pic of Catherine Deneuve that most resembles Mrs. Dr. McDreamy

I believe it was Catherine Deneuve.I liked George's anger and hope it leads him somewhere with the new doc. But I can't say I liked the 'bonding' between Burke & George. Burke has been so accomodating to Christine and he knows how she feels about him being on the couch, so it didn't quite ring right.
I also didn't like the baby being brought to work angle. The hospital has so many residents & docs that they can just have one assigned to babysit for a shift?
Otherwise, it was an enjoyable episode. Especially Denny & Izzie. And how much did Meredith's confession to McDreamy (even though he reacted with friend advise) have to do with him bouncing back to his wife?
And George did look like a Hobbit.

And how much did Meredith's confession to McDreamy (even though he reacted with friend advise) have to do with him bouncing back to his wife?Very little, I'd say. I think it was the couple where the wife (Natalie Cole) had a brain aneurysm and they both talked to McDreamy about it. The husband was indifferent to the wife for 15 years, until he found out she was going to die. That woke them both up.

I guess I see it differently. Sure George has been 'hung up' on Meredith for the whole show, however he is also very aware that she is totally and utterly in love with Dr. McDreamy. She had been in a bar drinking, comes home devastated, and IMHO George took advantage of her vulnerablity. She, on the other hand, was hoping for an eye opening fling.
So they were both using each other I just see George as the biggest user.
And it has been interesting how people want to blame the female for being promiscuous. It's like 'a man can't help but fulfill his lustful needs'.
What do you think George was trying to accomplish by his actions?

LAST EDITED ON 03-17-06 AT 12:28 PM (EST)I think it's all much simpler than that. Nobody was trying to use anybody. George is guileless and I think the last thing that can be said about him is that he is a user. Meredith looking for a fling? Once again, I doubt it. She makes bad decisions when she drinks. George is so desperately in love with Meredith that he hopes every disappointment for her will be the turning point for her to see that he is the one for her. They both made bad decisions in the moment that they have come to regret.

i agree--although i still don't like Meredith's character--George has been in love with her since day 1 and he really hoped that she would finally see the light (although i think he's much too good for her). Meredith is pretty clueless when it comes to men, especially if she's been drinking, but sleeping with your roommate isn't the best way to find out if you've been missing something that is right in front of you--or however she put it.

Last night's epi was pretty good. I think Alex is self-destructing his way out of the program. And, finally, Georgie had the balls to ask out Dr. Zena!Anyone else find last night more pleasant b/c of the lack of focus on the McDreamy-Mrs. Dr. McDreamy-Meredith love triangle?

Loved it when Izzie told Alex that even when he was at his best, he wasn't half the man that Denny was. And then Alex goaded George into getting over his whiny fit, being a better friend than any of them could realize by helping George, even though it seemed like he was just being an ass. This is the Alex I like watching - the one on the fringe of the group. But I'm worried that means he'll be heading out the door.Addison and the juju...was ROFL when Christina said she hated that word but her OCD patient wouldn't stop saying it.

Nice to let some other story lines take over for a change. I think George should get a real hair cut now that he's got a hot date. He was incredibly funny hounding Christina for Burke's cap. I cracked up when he was sitting next to her staring at her and chewing in her ear. Much relief about Denny but his death will probably happen when we least expect it.

George was funny hounding Christine for the hat, but it was Izzie's threat that had me in stitches. It was funny, but at the same time sad because we knew she was desperate to do anything she could to help Denny. I hope Denny doesn't die, but either way, I suspect they will drag out his illness to keep him around. Maybe his surgery will be the season ending cliff-hanger??Is it me, or does it seem George doesn't have a real job at the hospital. Burke assigning him to hound Christine for a whole day - that guy wastes so much time at work we might as well get him an RTVW account!
First the "vah-jay-jay", and now the "ju-ju". What is next??

I missed it when it first aired, too. It took me a few minutes to realize that it was a repeat. I was trying to figure out when the ultimatum had happened. But then I realized Addison was wearing those ugly peach scrubs, so it must be a repeat. If they can make me tear up over a one time patient, what is going to happen if they do something to Denny?

*whack* to you and all the others who keep mentioning "do something to Denny". It may be inevitable, but I don't want it to happen and for some reason don't want to be desensitized for it.(did we all miss this week's show when it originally aired? DW had seen it, but it was first time for me. Good ep. Very sad.)

I missed all of the first season and into the second, so I was glad to catch a repeat (and looking forward to more).I was a crybaby about the whole pole-impaled situation.
Also, I note that it seems Alex has been a major jerk long before Denny (I LOVE Denny).
I still don't get the appeal of Meredith, but maybe I'll see her differently when I see all the past episodes. She's a squinty-eyed, lispy, self-centered, slutty intern. If Dr. McDreamy has such high morals (trying to redeem his marriage after his wife whored around) what the heck does he see in Meredith?
By the way, I am dreading the most-likely demise of Denny and I'll have the Kleenex ready. He has such chemistry with pouty-lip doc. I want him to stick around for awhile.

LAST EDITED ON 04-03-06 AT 09:45 AM (EST)Loved last night's episode. When Richard "schooled" Christine on that final test, and walked out saying "That's why they call me Chief" I was in stitches.
The whole knitting thing was a bit goofy, especially at the end. Is that vet going to stay around?
I have to say though, that maybe Lasann will have to change her siggie to....

(sorry, I don't do moving pics)
George has the osteo doctor lusting after him (will they start living at her "place"??), and after his nice comments about Meredith to her dad I have to think his nice-guy status went way up.

"Just about Caught Up"
Posted by CattyChat on 04-15-06 at 11:56 AM
Well, I purchased the Season 1 DVDs (only 9 eps) and have changed some of my views on the show.First of all, in my defense for not watching from the beginning, with the opening credits & previews I thought it was just going to be a sex show -- horny interns & sex in scrubs. I was shocked to find out it's a damn fine show.
Didn't start watching until post-Super Bowl Bomb squad ep, so I missed all of first season & a lot of this season.
First of all, I have changed my opinion of Meredith. I USED to think she was annoying and whiney and I just didn't like her. NOW, after seeing season 1 & how she started out as an intern, her issues with her mother growing up, her mother now suffering from Alzheimer's and dealing with that and how the whole affair with McDreamy started, I actually like her. She's flawed, but she has heart and moxie. So I am now a Meredith fan. She's still not my fave character, but she's all right.
George is even cuter than I thought. His fumbling around, sometimes making mistakes but many times actually coming out on top is great. The valiant underdog. Love the dynamics of Geroge & Dr. Burke the most.
Always loved Cristina & Burke, but love them even more now. Cristina is my favorite character.
Still can't stand Alex & since I still don't know what possessed Izzie to hook up with him & have to wait for the reruns to find out why she made THAT mistake.
I like Izzie even more. I already liked her because of her chemistry with Denny, but seeing season 1 made me a big Izzie fan proving she more than T&A and having the most compassion (save George) of all the interns.
Loved & still love Bailey. She cracks me up to no end.
Finally, I used to think more Dr. McCheesy before and after catching the first season Derek definitely falls into the McDreamy role. LOVED his flirtatious teasing of Meredith. Always was a Dempsy fan and so glad he is back with such a great role.
Now I have the first 15 eps of season 2 to catch up on to be totally on top of things, but I'm almost there. This is now one of my favorite shows on television (following Survivor & Lost).

I don't particularly like the direction that Dr. Nazi's character is going. Yes, she's a new mommy, but does that mean that she is just going to roll over and take this gender discrimination that Chief seems intent on handing down?Alex needs to go. He is an angry young man who, while he probably did the ethical thing last night, cannot stand authority, esp. when it is a woman holding it. Too bad for him.
Meredith is a moron. I only like her because she is the glue that holds the other characters together. I'm also not liking Christine so much nowadays. I think Burke deserves better. Even Izzy is getting on my nerves with her possessiveness.
George looks better--I guess his hair is symbolic of the order in his life.
Dr. McDreamy and Dr. Mrs. McDreamy are gross together. I don't like Dr. McDreamy with her or Meredith. Dr. Mrs. McDreamy is acting too desparate for me to respect her much right now.
Otherwise, I liked the episode.

I think they really tried to hit on the problem of interns working 36 hours shifts and no real reason why and the decisions they make on the job or on the way home could hurt more then they are saving. It was a sad but true part of being an intern.Meredith and the Vet’s story line was interesting and showed that we are all damaged goods. I’m kind of glad the maybe Derek and Meredith are totally done.
Izzy and Denny is dragging out….just like Christiania and Burke…..
Poor George…..what is a man to do…..he was dammed if he did dammed if he didn’t.
And more and more I just hate Alex and his attitude….you save some and you lose some so stop saying how bad it is for the survivor to be alive….can someone slug him please.
Good to see Bailey back in action.
The final two shows looks like we’re going to be very entertained.

I never thought I'd say that I'm glad they "seem" to be done, Meridith and Derek that is. But God, what a total a$$ he was. It's ok for him to have neglected to tell her that he was married before it got to the point that she had fallen in love AND to choose Addison, AND to try to keep Meridith in the wings in case the whole marriage thing didn't work out AGAIN. But when it's in his face that she's moving on, he gets all righteous. Gag me!Chistina and Burke, they can be stuck in a rut, I love them
Denny's got to die soon because I hate that story line.
And George can never ever do anything wrong in my book, love him.

I love it when the end of the season is approaching. Not only do we actually get new episodes, but they keep things moving along.I still like Denny and found his resentment at his condition to ring so true. But I find annoying the idea that a resident can pick and choose where to be and what they want to do, completely blowing off a surgeon to lay with a patient.
Meredith was a weepy looking thing all through the show. Somebody give her allergy meds, cause her eyes are red and running again. But the explosion at Derek was very nice. Glad to see George talk to her, finally, but he does have to stand up for his own girlfriend. Can't you just picture her leaving the bathroom and hearing the two "cool" kids still in there bursting into laughter at her?
He who laughs last probably didn't get the joke.

Looks like the last shows of the season will be "to be continued", as I think I heard "2 more eps" but last night closed with "next week season finale". Doesn't make much difference, as each week is "tbc" to the next. How about the scene with Big Bill and the Asian doctor who was involved with the crash. Big Bill raises his hand to the guys chest (throat?) but realizes that the guy is hurting as much as he is. That scene had me in tears. (yes, I cry)
The next two eps are going to blow us up with emotion I think. Denny/Izzy, George/Callie, Burk/Christine, Meredith/vet, Alex/Addison (something's gotta give!).

"RE: 5/7 Show"
Posted by CattyChat on 05-09-06 at 06:52 AM
I finally watched the ep last night and I was with you, Byo, and found the scene with Big Bill and John Cho (don't know what his character's name was) VERY tear jerking moment. This show is just so darn good.I am one who lvoes the Denny/Izzie storyline. I didn't like that Izzie blew off the other surgery, but in her defense, she WAS paged about Denny (I guess since Burke was in the OR with dying preggie and Izzie has been on Denny's case as a doc). I also assumed that when Izzie went to "lay" with Denny, it was after her shift was over (as it was the time of the show when all the others were shown "off-duty." I'm guessing that in the two-parter beginning next week, it will be the beginning of the end of Denny and I will have the Kleenex handy.
SO glad Meredith & Derek said "it's over" -- do I believe it? Nope! But I guess they'll pretend it's over. I would like to see Chris O'Donnell stick around for awhile, so hopefully that relationship continues to develop into next season.
I heart Cristina and Burke -- they make me laugh, Cristina especially.
I double-heart George & I do hope he grows a pair now that he has a woman in his life. Happy that he finally spoke to Meredith & he has moved back into the house. Curious to see what's up with Izzie, because she is a little TOO jealous for "just" a very close friend. Wonder if Izzie has a little bit of feelings for George and would rather have Georg "available" indefinitely.
They need to either get rid of Alex or bring out some other side to him other than atshole. It's good to have the guy to hate on a show, but there has to be some redeeming quality and this guy has none. Like Dr. Benson (Eric LaSalle) on ER way back -- he was class A jerk, but you saw glimpses of his softer side, so you kinda liked him but were just frustrated that he had to be so pissy & arrogant all the time. Alex is just a real jerk to the Nth degree. I despise him and it's about past any chance for him to redeem himself.

I don't care much for Alex either, but I think Alex has one redeeming quality - he is overtly honest. I work with a guy like that, and while he is dangerous with clients, some clients love that unbridled honesty.hmmm. I hadn't really thought about Izzie and George. If bad things do happen to Denny, will George be there to comfort her? Will that lead to problems with Callie? Always interesting.

Help. I didn't watch this show from the beginning either. We started watching a few months ago. We've seen some repeats and a recrap. I see so much animosity towards Alex. Can somebody give me the rundown on why I am supposed to dislike him? I've read through this thread and other than people growling about him being an ass, I'm not finding anything new out.And am I supposed to like Meredith (because I really don't)? I see that I'm not alone on that one though.

"RE: Alex"

I don't have all the history either, but will try. I might be better at this after I watch season 1, which we have on DVD and will watch after this season is over!Alex - he is an aggressive sort, and too often tells the truth though it will hurt people. He seems to think he is above the others, and as we saw recently when he challenged even a senior doctor (Addison).
Meredith is supposed to be a sympathetic character. She met the man of her dreams, and they fell in love, only to later be crushed when she learned that he is married. And the wife returns and is a senior doctor (again, Addison) at the same hospital. And Dr. McDreamy doesn't completely cut Meredith loose, but keeps her hanging around, so that hurts her too. Meredith also has a messy family - her mother is an old doctor who now has alzheimers, and her father (who left when she was young) has another family. Meredtih finally grew some balls during the last show, and told her McDreamy that it was his fault she was messed up, and hopefully this will be the first step towards her recovery. She has been annoyingly sympathetic, and this character needs a better story line!
Maybe I have added some clarity for you.

I'm in the same boat with ByO, in that I only started watching at Bomb ep (about 15 eps into Season 2). And Glowie, FTR, I didn't like Meredith at all at first and then I purchased the Season 1 DVDs (only 9 eps) and seeing more of Meredith's backstory makes me like her much more (though she's still far from my fave character). With Alex, it's no so much about his honesty (I agree with you ByO that I do like honesty even if you think you don't want to hear it) but it's all about Alex's attitude for me and extreme coldness. I can take someone being direct and honest, but this guy just comes across as having a chip on his shoulder the size of fat Star Jones and he doesn't seem to have any "sensity chip" and seems to enjoy pissing people off. He was especially bullying to George in Season 1, too.
Anyway, I can't wait for the repeats to air or the Season 2 DVDs to come out, because I still have a lot of catching up to do.

Actually there was a little more to this story than this-- And while Alex is generally a major prick, he does have a sensitive side. 1. When he was with Izzy, he was having problems in the sex department with her.. it was implied that he cared about her so much and wanted to be really perfect for her, so much so that he was having problems getting things up and running so to speak, even though she was willing. After a couple of encounters with nothing happening, Izzy thought he didn't want her (since he didn't admit to her what the problem was). In his frustration and fear about his whole manhood thing, when the other nurse, Olivia, presented an opportunity to have sex, I was under the impression he did it to make sure his equipment indeed was working.... (And of course, he was caught!)
Not that this justifies Alex's behavior, but at least sheds a little more light on it.
Now, was I the only one who interpreted things this way??
2. There was an excellent episode where Alex has to "babysit" a very pretty Asian teen who asks him to give her her first kiss. Alex is very sweet to her and explains how that first kiss is so special and that she needs to have it with a person who will treasure it. I am not doing justice to his words, but it reveals a romantic depth to the Alex character. I wish the writers would continue to do a better job of showing the full dimensions of this guy-- because he is pretty much otherwise an arrogant arsehole!

I love Bailey! She rocks!

All I could do was yell "Nooooo!" Bad thing is, seeing Burke lying on the ground shot didn't affect me as much as Izzie cutting the cord to Denny. Thank heavens it continues tonight, but what if we are still left hanging?I'll be shocked if Burke dies -- which is probably why he worries me the least.
The big question on my mind is what will become of Izzie? Other than the fact that she pretty much performed the DNR on Denny (which is bad enough) but even if he does survive (doubtful) how can Izzie still have a job & license to practice medicine after what she did? Is this the last of Izzie?

Wow. Oh wow. That was an amazing episode. I'm so glad I taped 24 to watch later, because that was terrific.
From the very beginning, with all of them sharing the narration, I was hooked. And it just kept getting better and better. The chief's wife made me want to stand up and applaud. The scenes with him "breaking" each of the interns was terrific. It's hard to pick a favorite, because each one was a wonderful way to give us more insight into each character, as they also affected the chief. From Alex's team comment to Meredith confronting the chief about the affair with her mother to George admitting how he really felt about Callie to Izzie's comments about always being the pretty girl, I was blown away. But I think Christina's had to be the best, especially given the great response by the chief. She wanted answers, he wouldn't give them to her, and he wouldn't let her do something that would make her less human.
So many interesting relationship studies - Burke/McDreamy and Alex/Izzie being two of the most intriguing ones. Alex's omments about loving someone were so telling, yet the self-centered SOB was able to focus in on the woman he loved even while she was grieving over some other guy. Even little things, like Callie zipping up Meredith before sending her to Izzie, were incredible.
And I can't believe I've gotten this far without mentioning the always-wonderful Bailey. The moment when she realized something was going on because she couldn't find her "suck-ups" was priceless...and made even better by Burke's "I'm just a patient" response.
And even guest characters got cool moments. That rhymes-with-witch of a doctor? I could understand why she was so upset about losing the heart, as she used Izzie's argument about her patient being a good man who deserved it ("he's got kids, 4 and 5").
Nice change of pace from the over-the-top cliffhanger endings of a lot of shows. This one resolved a lot - sorta - while leaving tons of possibilities to springboard off of during the next season.

Thanks for the great recap. I sat for 5 minutes after it was over just in a daze.I know some don't like the Meredith-McDreamy relationship but the passion and longing in their eyes is just, wow. To feel that passion. But if they get back together then the story will just be about their differences and the passion will be gone. I think I prefer they not get together (and destroy the chemistry) and just keep that look. *melts*. It was funny when she kept saying to McDreamy "I can't move on when you look at me, quit looking at me".
Agree on the breaking scenes. They were brilliantly written and performed.
What a twist to have Denny survive surgery only to die later.
The softening of Christina and her mixed feelings about it is great to watch.
I LOVE this show!

Hands down, this show is so much better than ER. These characters are just outstanding!!! George's explanation to Meredith was very insiteful as well. "Quit saying you're sorry".
Let's hope they (the actors) don't want to run from the show and make other names for themselves.
Bailey is a classic. The Chief and his past, all the interns, it's priceless. This show makes ER look like the Brady Bunch.
I wish ER would quit airing their political views and give the characters some depth, like Grey's Anatomy does.
Kudos to a great show, and a wonder season finale!!!!!! Now when do the new episodes come back???

Oh...I forgot about George saying I knew you did not want to but I went for it anyway.....I think the first year or two of the ER was like this but then it went down hill and too deep....
This is a wonderful finale....tied up things and you can see the possiblities for next year. No wondering who done it or is he/she going to make it.....

Now that's what a season finale should be!Both Sunday and Monday's episodes were fantastic! Why didn't I start watching this show sooner?
I was on the edge of my seat for most of the show. One minute I'm laughing (with things like Bailey's comments about her "suck-ups" and people asking each other to go to the prom, and the interns planning the prom). Then the next minute, I was crying when Denny died (I love his character), and when Christina was with Burke after surgery, that was really sweet).
I will definitely enjoy the reruns this summer so I can catch up on what I missed early in the season. And I cannot wait until the new season in September.

I feel the same way, greeneyes. I started watching a few months ago and kick myself for not tuning in sooner. I even missed the recap show because I still hadn't given in to the pull of this show. Now I want to buy season one on dvd.I cried when Denny died. Even more when the dog died. Cold blooded killing the dog!!

I cried like a baby. The contract of the activity and people around Denny during the cutting of the line and during the transplant, against the simple quiet passing away. And Izzie's grief about changing her dress three times. There was just too much in the three hours to be able to comment on all. Suffice to say, can these writers ever write.

Grey's Anatomy sandwiched in between Survivor and Without a Trace (even if they aren't all on the same network) is wonderful. To me, that is definitely some "must see tv."

What will be worse is that fact of being sandwiched between my favorites, Survivor and ER. Grey's Anatomy will definitely make ER look bad.

It's rough staying up late to see the show, and when it gets me all weepy I can't go to sleep right away. Starting the week off with a sleep deficit is a bad bad thing. This time/day change will be just fine!BTW, last night was great and awful all rolled into one. We knew it was coming but for a second there I thought Denny would actually be allowed to live. *sigh*

i'm glad GA is moving to thursday--hopefully i will be able to get some sleep on sunday nights.

"Do I like her nor not"

Ok seriously I just started watching the show about a month ago and I love it. But Im confused some of my friends tell me to like Merideth because shes a lost soul and others say she needs to grow up and take resposibility. Whats the deal...or should I just rent the 1 season?"I'll tell you in another life when we are both cats"
"RE: Do I like her nor not"

Your friends are right. All of them. Meredith is a lost soul who deserves our sympathy. She also needs a *whack* in the head and to grow up. But matters of the heart are tricky that way. I still haven't seen Season 1, though DW and I will prolly watch it now that the season is over.Oh, and welcome to the boards Mrsunderstood. I think you will find this place accommodating to cat people.

She just needs to decide what and who she wants. I was ok with her when she stopped dating McDreamy, but I felt disgust when she decided to do the deed again. First time, she didn't know he was married. This time? Adulterer!
