"Airing questions"

Posted by byoffer on 11-24-06 at 03:59 PM
Is it just happening in my local market, or is this show running past 10:00 most weeks? I haven't been able to get my DVR to record to 10:10 each week, so I am having to record the next show to get the ends of each episode. Last night it seemed to go way past 10. I am glad I taped the next show, or I would have missed Burke closing the door.

Anyone else having this problem?

I did a few weeks ago when I switched to DTV DVR instead of TiVo....so now I add 5 to 10 minutes to all the shows I tape because I don't think it has the times right.

I'm mostly having problems taping ABC, oh wait....LOL. Never mind. BUT...the last Grey's ep was recorded in its entirety. I've got Directv Tivo.

Shoot...I had a problem taping Heroes - that's it! I just add about 2 minutes to the recording.

Oh, and by the way, ER has always been a minute or two early. This is planned by the execs to make you switch over, or stay with what you're watching. It's ratings, but what can ya do???

Thanks to Seana for my sigpic!!!

ABC in general seems to love the run the big shows over time by at least a minute or two more often than not.

It isn't just this show, they do it for a lot of shows.

My DVR usually catches the overage for any show when it is scheduled to happen. I don't know if all of them will, but the cable I have it through seems to know when they schedule ABC shows to go a few minutes over and records until the end of the show.

Having to tape two shows to see all of one is a pain. It also messes up trying to record or watch other shows on other stations, but I guess that probably is the point of running the high rated shows over to start with.

No I haven't but I think last week was particularly longer. I guess it was due to the holiday.

November is a sweeps month, and ER has been doing much better than expected, so ABC probably wanted to shake things up to use one of its top shows.

My DVR has a setting where I can set whether the show tapes over the designated show time. I learned about it after I lost the end of a TAR episode because of football. My DVR will let me indicate to tape a few minutes - or even a half hour - over the scheduled end date. I don't know TiVo, but it's worth checking your settings to see if you can change that.

I have TAR set to record for a full hour after it's scheduled to end, due to stupid football!

You are absolutely correct. Last week's episode was a special Thanksgiving episode, and it ran, on purpose, until about 10:10 or so.

However, it typically runs until 10:01 or 10:02. I think it is so stupid and goofy how so many shows now start a minute early and run a minute later than the regular programming. For me it doesn't matter as I set something up to tape on my DVR and it just tapes based on the cable guide...I don't set the time myself.

Good luck trying to tape it again..but I think last week was an anomoly.
