"Survivor - The Greek islands: Episode 12"

Posted by michel on 06-04-12 at 07:17 PM

Previously on Survivor, the tribe returned to camp after a difficult Tribal Council where the alliance had turned on one of its own.
Jenna was upset at losing Mick, her closest ally and let everyone know about it.
Sandra was happy that it was someone else that had been voted out.
Todd, Earl, Mike, Aras and Ian talked about the events long into the night, shaken that the game had taken such an ugly turn.
<One of them was heard saying: “We need to trust each other”>

The next morning however they were called for an immunity challenge that would test that trust: The famous Coconut chop challenge.
Allies were forced to eliminate each other in order to win immunity.
In the end, it came down to Ian and Mike. That’s where Ian showed his abilities with riddles: His last two chops eliminated Mike and earned him the immunity Badge.

Resigned, Jenna went to Tribal Council convinced it was her last one before she’d join the jury.
Despite some tension between the alliance of 5, they did stick together and Jenna was voted out, leaving Sandra as the only woman left.

6 are left, who will be voted out next?

I don’t know if they’re up or down
Whether right is left or blue is brown
The words of my game are all different somehow
I’m so dizzy, I’m going cross-eyed now.

Come on in Guys!

I will be posting the picture of a grid containing letters.
In there, you will find words and expressions associated with Survivor in general and the season of Heroes versus Villains in particular. (Thanks to FML again for creating this puzzle)

Your job: Find as many Survivor related words, names or expressions as possible and send them to me in ONE PM.
If you find more words after sending me your original PM, too bad, they won’t count in your total.

Your answer should include the word, the name or expression and the coordinates of its first letter and that of its last.
Example: Jonathan Penner: A1 to N14
Jurors should also include the name of the Survivor they are helping.

I will not accept any word, name or expression shorter than 5 letters and contestant names or expressions count for only one point.
(In the example above, you could not count Jonathan as 1 answer and Penner as another. If you only send Penner, not realizing that Jonathan was right next to it, you will not be credited for a valid answer.)

Any questions?

How long do we have for this challenge?

"RE: The Challenge:"

Tomorrow, 8:00PM

"Criss-Cross Words"

Here is the picture:

You have until 8:00PM tomorrow to send your PM.
If we have a tie, meaning if two or more players send me the same amount of names, words or expressions, then the first tie-breaker will be the PM that contains the most of the longest words. If the tie persists then the first PM received will be the tie-breaker.

I've sent this question to Michel in a PM. But it occurs to me that he probably isn't going to see it for hours. So, my curiousity (and the fact that I want to enter something in this Challenge) has gotten the better of my pride. I said:

'Does the Emperor Have Clothes, Michel ...

I can't find a word, any word, over three characters (arranged consecutively - horizontally or vertically) in length in the grid that you published.

I've even put the thing in a graphics program and attempted to run diagonal lines.

So, I'm not asking for any answers. I'd just like to know if I must unscramble consecutive letters, pick and choose letters from a block ... what!!!!!!!!

It's driving me crazy.

And if you think that this question should have been posted, please do so over my name.'

G

PS: Even if you don't want to share any 'directions', I'd just appreciate knowing if anyone has actually found a word or phrase.

I recently told someone that I was naive -
- not obtuse. Evidently, I - evaded.

Posted by SpotTheDiffference on 06-05-12 at 01:54 PM
Yes, I found some. I did it the hard way though--I copied the letters manually into Excel. I thought it would be easier to spot the letter combinations and mark the words at the same time.

Unfortunately, I copied some of the letters incorrectly, and I'm only realizing it now, after I've submitted my answers.

"RE: The Challenge:"
Posted by CTgirl on 06-05-12 at 01:58 PM
I just copied and pasted into word and enlarged it, not that that helped me any!

Go to bed!

"RE: The Challenge:"

It is a traditional word search Georj. The words run diagonally, backwards, etc.

I have found it difficult to find words or phrases. It looks like gibberish. I was expecting words to jump out at me.

Hope this helps - good luck!

First, these are the words I was looking for:

Betrayal - L17-E10
JeffProbst= W10-N19
Immunity= Q1-X8
Boston Rob - S23-K15
Hidden Idols: C3-M13
Tribal Council - W15-K3
SoleSurvivor - D3-O14
Blindside: U2 - M10
HeroesTribe - B3-L13
Backstabbing - Y19-N8
Confessional - W8-L19
Challenges D2-M11
Samoa - U25-Y21
Delusional - B11-K20
Final Three - V18-M9
PreviousWinner- L23 - Y10
Alliances = A13 - I21
FinalTwo - W2 - P9
VillainsTribe - A3 - M15
SeasonTwenty - W13 and L2

Does anyone think they have at least 10 good answers?

Mike raises his hands, liking his chances:

Villians Tribe
heroes tribe
jeff probst
previous winner
tribal council
boston rob
sole survivor
immunity
hidden idols
final two
challenges
alliances
n16-s21 fallee (-)
v14-v19 faker
p8-j14 ones lie

The (-) indicates an unacceptable answer. So, crediting Mike for "ones lie" and "faker", that gives him 14 points.

Sandra also has a pretty full board:

Alliances
Backstabbing
Betray (-)
Boston Rob
Challenges
Confessional
Delusional
Heroes Tribe
Hidden Idols
Immunity
Jeff Probst
Previous Winner
Season Twenty
Survivor (-)
Tribal Council
Villains Tribe

That gives Sandra 14 point! She's tied for the lead!

Ian has written:
HIDDEN IDOLS
IMMUNITY
BACKSTABBING
HEROES (-)
VILLAINS (-)
BOSTON ROB
SEASON TWENTY
BETRAYAL
BLINDSIDE
JEFF PROBST
CONFESSIONAL
DELUSIONAL
ALLIANCES
TRIBAL COUNCIL
TRIBE (-)
FINAL TWO
SOLE SURVIVOR
CHALLENGES
FINAL THREE
WINNER (-)
PREVIOUS (-)
SAMOA

Ian takes the lead with 17 valid answers!

Earl also raised his hand and he had the following answers

1 Alliances
2. Betrayal
3. Boston Rob
4. Backstabbing
5. Blindside
6. Challenges
7. Confessional
8. Delusional
9. Final Three
10.Final Two
11.Heroes Tribe
12.Hidden Idols
13.Immunity
14.Jeff Probst
15.Previous Winner
16.Season Twenty
17.Sole Survivor
18.Villains Tribe
19.Tribal Council

That’s 19 valid answers!

Earl Wins Immunity.

Tribal council will open at 9:00PM, giving time for Earl’s player to PM me if he wants to give immunity to someone and for everyone to verify my scores.

Take your seat as we greet the members of the jury: Georgianna, Suzzee, Tribephyl, Jbug and Agman, voted out at the last Tribal Council.

With numbers dwindling, are there discussions between players of the increased importance of the jury?
Will this vote be a blindside or is the player expecting to be voted out?

I remind everyone that Earl is immune so you must vote for one of: Aras, Ian, Mike, Sandra and Todd.

You have until Thursday, 7:00PM to send me your votes.

They're not really funny, and I doubt they would be even if you're on the right side of a blindside or watching it at home. But if you're watching at home, blindsides are probably exciting. I've seen enough seasons of Survivor to know that Pagongings aren't exciting to watch, though they are probably relaxing to those on the right side of it.

Do you know that the song is about a true, tragic event?

"According to Geldof, he wrote the song after reading a telex report at Georgia State University's campus radio station, WRAS, on the shooting spree of 16-year-old Brenda Ann Spencer, who fired at children in a school playground at Grover Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego, California on 29 January 1979, killing two adults and injuring eight children and one police officer. Spencer showed no remorse for her crime and her full explanation for her actions was "I don't like Mondays. This livens up the day"

I presume you're talking about the song "I Don't Like Mondays", by Bob Geldof. I think Brenda Ann Spencer is a psychopath. I prefer "Rainy Days and Mondays" by the Carpenters anyway.

mmmmm scrambled eggs, double order of bacon, english muffin and a glass of tomato juice. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm

now I'm hungry.

I made a from scratch German chocolate cake last night for DS's birthday. What was I thinking starting a cake at 3:45 for a 5:30 party. GAH. Needless to say the cake was still warm at 6pm, the frosting was as loose as a goose. So it was warmish German Chocolate cake with a coconut pecan sauce. I skipped the candles since they would have melted in the warm cake anyway. The mess from the frantic cake making was all over the counters, floor, me, dog licked up most of it. Do not start the mixer on high. just sayin'. Anyway I'm going to have to give myself more time or just go buy a damn cake.

Corvis, you can leave your final words here.

The other Survivors can also write short goodbyes here.

The jurors could use the jury thread to greet Corvis.

Corvis, I liked the way you played this game. We were on the same side for a long time in Cahaya's game and I know how good you are at planning ahead. Sometimes it just doesn't work out.

"RE: Final Words "

You were a tough player, Corvis. It was an honor to play with you -- even if you were the one who wanted one of my other players out of the game! But the name of the game is "Outwit, outplay, outlast" and in the end I outlasted you.

What player of yours did I want out of the game?

"RE: Final Words "
Posted by SpotTheDiffference on 06-08-12 at 04:28 AM
Belle, I think, is referring to Yul.

He was mostly booted because we wanted the Nachos to win immunity that round (because I wanted to boot my other player). Todd was in Doritos, and I think we all kind of knew that you were planning to keep him over your other player. We booted Yul because the other Doritos were already immune, except for Becky (my player who I wanted to get rid of) and Todd (yours).

I wouldn't say that Corvis actively campaigned for Yul to be voted out. I think Yul was just at the wrong tribe at the wrong time. Had there been only one person voted out that round, Becky would have gone and Yul probably would have stayed.

"RE: Final Words "
Posted by Belle Book on 06-08-12 at 09:35 AM
Yeah, I was referring to Yul.

I didn't know you wanted to get rid of Becky -- or that Becky was your player! I wanted Becky but I couldn't have both Becky and Yul, so I had to choose one!

Thanks for letting me know the reason behind Yul's ouster. And for the record, if you had let the Nachos lose Immunity, I might have allowed Sandra to go before Yul.

"RE: Final Words "
Posted by SpotTheDiffference on 06-08-12 at 10:04 AM
We tried to prepare for any vote-bouncing that would occur, and we (or I, at least) actively sought for information regarding who was playing as which characters and which character everyone wanted to play past the merge.

We didn't know yours, and I think we were running under the assumption that you didn't have a preference between Yul or Sandra. All I know at the time was that I was pretty desperate to vote Becky out to make sure that my other player would be immune.

"RE: Final Words "
Posted by Belle Book on 06-08-12 at 12:51 PM
Sorry I didn't tell you I was Yul and Sandra then or that Yul was my first choice with Sandra my second. Should have done so in retrospect.

"RE: Final Words "
Posted by CTgirl on 06-07-12 at 08:07 PM
Corvis you made me nervous from the beginning - you stayed UTR for the first half of the game but I knew you'd emerge. You are an excellent strategist and you did indeed emerge - to the point of taking my place in my alliance! My mind hasn't been 100% in the game due to an interstate move (the packers arrive tomorrow!), but I couldn't just roll over without attempting something proactive first. I hope you still like blindsides!

"RE: Final Words "
Posted by Corvis on 06-07-12 at 08:48 PM
Yay! A blindside! Well, mostly a blindside. I had a feeling this might happen this week as I mentioned to michel when I voted. The game was mostly a lot of fun. No hard feelings, of course - it's a game. If everyone had remembered that, I wouldn't have had to use the word "mostly" up there.

It looks like I finally brought the jury together. Those of you still playing better watch out - the jury in this game is much more powerful than the regular Survivor, particularly in the last few votes.

CTGirl, if you are the one who orchestrated this, nice job! (Though I do wonder how you did it without talking the jury that you're not supposed to talk to.)

Hmmm.

I'm off to the jury house! Yay!

I was just as surprised as you, Corvis. We just recently talked about the game and that conversation convinced me to not vote for you this round (although I think you know I was planning to vote for you prior to that conversation).

You were a great competitor, and I was completely terrified of you. Like I said in our chat, I think I would have voted for you if you made it to the final two. I truly respect your game, and I'm very sorry to see you go.
