"Survivor 2nd Chances III: The Beginning"

It's that time again, time to decide the fate of 20 past survivors through numerous challenges and twists, eliminating one after the other until we reach our One 2nd Chance Champion.
This season, as leaked, the production will be heading North. Far north.
Like Nunavet Territory, Canada... far north.
Time for you and all the survivors to get ready for an Arctic Summer.

The 20 castaways are flown in via 2 small twin-propellor airplanes. Making shaky and quick landings on a snow field, the survivors file out as tribe continues his voice-over...

For this season we have recruited quite a few memorable pre-merge boots to come back and try again to win.
Some of them may be less memorable, therefore it's their duty to amp up the drama.
Two Beechcraft Model 100 King Air, one painted blue the other pink start unloading their passengers.

First from the blue plane emerges... Australian Outback contestant Michael Skupin. Having passed out and falling into a fire, Michael was med-evac'd out due to severe burns on his hands and face. Missing the merge by 1 challenge.

Michael: "I've had time to heal and am ready to take on the game once again. I'll have to watch myself around fires of course but the rest will be a cake walk."

Next out of the plane come Jonathan Libby and Ibrehem Rahman, both from Palau. Jonathan was removed from the game before the survivors even got their torches and Ibrehem was not BobbyJon or Stephenie therefore ended up getting the boot 1 challenge before the merge.


Jonathan: "I vow to make more in-roads from the get-go. I can't be the quiet guy and risk getting booted because no one knows me."


Ibrehem: "Excellent, neither BJ nor Steph are here, I think I stand a chance this time."

Over to the pink plane to see our first few female castaways.
Out come Wand Shirk and Angie Jakusz. Both from Palau as well, Wanda suffered the same fate as Jonathan and never got picked to receive a torch/buff. Angie fell pray to a cross aliance immunity switch giving Ibrehem immunity, causing a tie-vote/re-vote where Stphenie and BobbyJon decided to keep James, instead of Angie.


Wanda: "I've been called the singing lady of survivor ever since my first attempt. This time I'm reading poetry."


Angie: "Oh gawd. Ibrehem is here. I hope I'm not on a tribe with him."

Next out is Gina Crews, the sweetheart of the Marquesas.


Gina: Not sure what I have to do to change my status as I seem to be lacking in only the luck department. So I brought lots of lucky charms this time.

Well, I hope Gina feels good about the next male out of the blue plane...
It's Hunter Ellis, also from Marquesas.


Hunter: "I am definitely ready to play a much harder much more strategic game than last time. I will not worry so much about the Sarahs as I will the Robs, if you get my meaning."

Next out is Brady Finta from Vanuatu. Able to squirm up a greased pole faster than any other man, even holder of the all-powerful testosterone stone, he falls prey to an age-based alliance of old farts.


Brady: "The best part about returning is that I'm now a little older and wiser. No more not being in with the old guys."

Also out of the plane come Aaron Reisberger from China and Marcus Lehman from Gabon.


Aaron: "Wow. It's freaking coooolllldddd here. I shoulda packed some better underwear."


Marcus: "At least you brought underwear."

Over to the pink plane again and out walks Jacquie Berg from Gabon and Amy O'Hara from Guatemala.


Jacquie: "Please tell me there are NO switches. I relly don't want to play if I can't play with the same people."


Amy: My ankle has healed, I've brought extra ace bandages and have been working out my leg/knee/ankle muscles ever since Guatemala. I will not fall prey to falling lame again this season."

Next out is Christine Sheilds and Mikayla Wingle, both fresh off their South Pacific stint.


Mikayla: "I am not a whore. I'm not from Babylon. I've come to play the game, free of little trolls... and win."


Christine: I too am not a temporary player. I do not resdide on Redemption Island. I've come to play the game, free of coachroachs... and win."

Wow, how similar the confessionals. Anyways...

Samoa gives us Russell. No, you can relax, Mikayla. Not the troll Russell, the Swan, Russell.


Russell: Last time I just passed out. It was because of the heat. It looks like I won't be suffering from heat-exhaustion this time."

Out of the blue plane next is BobDawg. Quite literally because of 'some sh!t' he was booted pre-merge.


Bobby: "My motto is now, never shlitz where you sitz. And this time, I've also brought some air-fresheners."

From the pink plane emerge Kelly Bruno (from Redemption), Misty Giles (from Exile) and Tanya Vance (from Thailand). Hand in hand these three look to already have an alliance.


Kelly: "Me, Misty and Tanya have decided to form an alliance. We call ourselves the Angels and we're searching for our Bosley and our Charlie."
Misty: "I'm leaning towards a BobDawg "Bosley' and a Marcus "Charlie'."
Tanya: "Really? I was thinking a Brady "Bosley' and a Michael "Charlie' scene."
Kelly: "Well what about a Hunter/Ibrehem combo?"

Finally, out walks Brian Corridan. Arguabley the best "strategic" player cast for Survivor 2nd Chances III. Can he live up to the moniker? Can he oulast the likes of Rob C? Or Rob M? or Brian H?


Brian: "These are my people. This is my game." *twich*giggle*

Well, there they are folks. 20 past survivors, in the far North during the Arctic Summer.
23 hours of day-light. 25 hours of danger. Truly, our wildest season ever!

Okay folks, c'mon in. Stand on the big purple mat over there, thank you. Excellent.
Welcome to Nunavut Territory, Canada.
The temperature now is...11degrees F. With a slight wind of 10mph.
Brrr....
This is where you'll be spending the next few weeks, playing in challenges and surviving the tribal councils, in hopes of winning the title of 2nd Chances Champion.
Yes, all 20 of you. Living together as one tribe. The Igloolik tribe.
And rather than extrapolate more on the scenery, circumstances and native names let's just get right to the game, shall we?

Off in the distance (roughly 11 miles away), I've built two longhouses and a Tribal Council.
1 longhouse is called The Inukshuk. It contains, rations, a fire-pit and 12 sleeping cots.
The other is called The Inawhile. It contains a stocked refrigerator, kichenette, fireplace, heated jacuzzi and (blank) sleeping cots.
As for Tribal Council, it resembles the beached and bleached skeleton of a bluewhale, entrance through the mouth, voting area in the tail, with a fire-pit in the middle and seaweed bales as seats.
This is where votes are cast, torches are snuffed and those that go here must sleep here.

Enough of the descriptors, all that's left to do is to go ahead and start this whole snowbound shebang.

For our first challenge I have split the Igloolik tribe into 5 teams with 4 castaways each.
Team Red: Amy ~ Christine ~ Hunter ~ Jonathan
Red is the 2nd team of 4 in The Inukshuk

Team Orange: Angie ~ Bobby ~ Brady ~ Wanda
Orange is the 1st team of 4 in The Inukshuk

Team Yellow: Aaron ~ Gina ~ Jacquie ~ Marcus

Team Green: Kelly ~ Mikayla ~ Michael ~ Russell
Red is the 2nd team of 4 in The Inukshuk

Team Blue: Brian ~ Ibrehem ~ Misty ~ Tanya


Each survivor has in front of them a team colored sled with sled-dog team.
Each survivor will race to the finish line.
Along the way there is a supply crate with 12 blankets, for the first 12 survivors who grab them on their way to the finishline.
Overall, the first 3 teams with all 4 of it's members across the finish line (with or without blankets) will call 'The Inukshuk' their home for the first cycle of S2C3.

The 2 teams remaining will go to Tribal Council.
Again, all 4 members of a team must cross the finish line in order to avoid going to the first tribal council.

Your job will be to pick a survivor, have them collect one of 12 blankets and then make them reach the Finish.
If all 12 blankets have been taken, no worries, they will simply need to reach the finish without a blanket.
Again, the first 3 teams to have all 4 of it's members reach the finish, sleeps indoors. The other two teams (regardless of how many members reached the finish) will join me at Tribal Council.
For ease of entering all you'll need to post is the team color, the survivor's name and whether or not they grabbed a blanket and "reaches the Finish".
For instance,
Team Purple: Silas grabs blanket and reaches finish line.
or
Team Brown: JP reaches finish line.

OH! 1 entry per day per player. If the boardtime date is different, your entry will be valid.

BobDawg puts his dogs in the sled, covers them with a blanket that he picked up and carries the whole thing to the finish line. He does a King's ransom pose afterwards.

(He didn't finish first because one of his dogs got motion sickness.)

The very 1st challenge is finished and the following 12 survivors won a place (and most likely a blanket too) in The Inukshuk longhouse.

JP walks off and the 8 of them follow.
Rounding a large Ice Mountain, the unmistakeable look of a large scale whale skeleton looms large, ahead.

The ladies ooh and ahh. The men all grunt and gasp.

Tanya: "So, JPtribe? Is it bad luck to walk through a whales mouth?"

JPtribe: "For one of you, yes.
...Okay folks, here we are. Tribal Council. Go ahead and grab a torch from behind you and light it in the fire."
In this game (moreso than in the original show) Fire is Life. Once your fire goes out, your status in this game is out.
Your 2nd Chance snuffed just like your torch. Go ahead and place them in the slots behind your seaweed seats and let's get this thing started.
So, Ibrehem, surprised to see us go cold-weather?"

Ibrehem: "Yes. It's crazy cold out. And I don't know if you know this JPtribe but my people don't do snow."

JPtribe: "I'm going to avoid answering and just let that little color-bomb idle awhile.
So, Misty? You were the only one from the blue team to make it over the finish line (and with a blanket too, no less), a little disappointed in your teammates performance?"

Misty: "Absolutely. I mean, I like them all but with Tanya, Brian and Ibrehem I mean we shoulda, wait...what am I saying? I'm surprised any of us crossed the finish line at all. I don't want to be here at TC but it's better than being out in the open, I guess."

JPtribe: "Gina, you too grabbed a blanket and crossed the finish line. A little resentful for having to go to TC?"
Gina: "Yeah, a little. I mean I never even saw Aaron or Jacquie board their sleds. They just sat there, at the starting line, talking to each other."

Jacquie: "We weren't talking we were shivering."
Aaron: "I suggested we get nekkid and cuddle for warmth but Jacquie refused. Not gonna stop me from trying though."

JPtribe: "Am I to take this to mean that a relationship is blooming here in the arctic?"

Jacquie: "Maybe between Aaron and his ego. But I'm not involved."

JPtribe: "So it sounds like the most animosity is happening between teammates and not across team lines. Is that how you're feeling, Marcus?

Marcus: "Actually, no. I can forgive my teammates for sucking at a challenge. We did our best, we're gonna stick together."

JPtribe: "Feeling the same way, Brian?"

Brian: "Actually, JPtribe, I'm super nervous. Not only do I think the members of the Yellow team are eyeballing me, my own blue teammates have distanced themselves from me. I don't know why it's so hard for me to get the girl or be the best buddy but I'm used to it. My best bet at this moment is to not see the obviously mutable team-lines and plan for the future by approaching all of those involved. Personally, I'm leaning towards one of my own blue teammates and if any yellow teammates wanna make a deal, I'm up for it."

... coyote howl off in the distance ...

JPtribe: "Plead upon deaf ears. Let's get to the voting, shall we? Brian, you can go first."

Okay, the votes for the 1st Tribal Council are in, but before revealing the results let's check in on those in The Inukshuk.

How did the Inukshuk members feel about the location, their 2nd Chances, their first win and who is likely to be the 1st Boot?
And most importantly how did they respond to the first tree-mail?

Amy: "I love the snow, I love being bundled up, I love campfires. Now I just need to win some food. Cause frankly, reindeer jerky is just NOT doing it."

Angie: "I can't believe I was chosen for the cast. So many hunky guys and pretty girls, I really feel out of place. But, maybe, just maybe, I can get these surface-people to turn on each other."

Bobby: "I loved pulling it out for my team. Perhaps I lost a bit of time by carrying the sled and the dogs but that's just to prove how strong I am, how needed I will be."

Hunter: "I really hope Gina can make it through the first TC. It sucks that she finished but because of Jacquie and Marcus she has to go to TC. Grr...makes me angry."

JPtribe: "Welcome, Inukshuk!
In front of you is The Inawhile longhouse.
As teased earlier, there are 6 sleeping cots within and amongst many other amenities.
Right now, 1 of you will be moving from The Inukshuk to The Inawhile.
While at The Inawhile, you will be free to relax for the first 6 boots. Yup, Immune until the final 14.
Each cycle one more of The Inukshuk will move to The Inawhile until 6 survivors reside in The Inawhile.
From there I will again twist things around. But more on that later.

I blamed the vodka I drank as to my confusion over when the results would be posted.
Maybe the votes were tallied but with all the vodka consumed by the contestants trying to keep warm, there was mass confusion over whose torch was being snuffed.
Brrrr...I got a chill thinking of the Arctic conditions. Guess I'll warm up with another drink.

My goodness.
Um... really I've been trying to buy myself the full three days, to catch up on ALL the things I had stuck my toe in.
OTCC, GOTS, STOPP, ABC, Old Job, New Job and Holiday-stuff. I'm keeping tally, you just have to remain patient.
I'll reveal the 1st Bootee and the 1st Inawhile with the start of Cycle 2.
Coming soon. I swear.
(Soon being somewhat subjective. As I sense that You, Georj, agman and martini are a couple hours ahead of me.)

This challenge will be decided by 7 posters...
Starting with team recruitment, to challenge winners and eventually to the 12 Inukshuk bed-fillers (and the 6 that go to TC)

We will be splitting the survivors into 2 teams. Team Brown and Team Purple.
1 team will win the challenge, becoming Inukshuk, and will pick 3 survivors from the losing team to join them in The Inukshuk.
Leaving 6 survivors from the losing team to go to Tribal Council.
I will need 7 different posters for this challenge.
In order of poster # please make the decisions asked and post your results.

Poster #1: Choose 3 survivors and place them on Team Purple. Angie ~ Brady ~ Michael
Poster #2: Choose 3 survivors and place them on Team Brown. Kelly ~ Misty ~ Tanya

First off, I have removed 4 beds from The Inukshuk.
Meaning, that there are only 8 sleeping cots left in the Inukshuk.
Now, who get's those sleeping cots is up to you.

Each of the survivors has in front of them an Inukshuk totem.

These totems are made from stacked ice-slabs.
These Inukshuk totems are each made from 6 seperate ice-slabs;
Head ~ Arms ~ Torso ~ Abdomen ~ Left Leg ~ Right Leg


Each of you have been given 3 hot-balls.

With protective gloves on, go ahead and toss your 3 balls into the ice-slab(s) of any survivor's Inukshuk totem.
You may throw all three of your hot-balls at 1 particular survivor or you may spread them out between 3 different survivors. Up to you.
Please reply with all three of your choices.
Please keep to removing from the left to the right. first head, then arms, torso, etc... ending with right leg.
Please also pay attention to the poster before you. I try to keep a running tally but cannot hover in the thread 24/7 to edit for everyone's choice.
Each day, you will be allowed 3 more balls to toss.
This Totem destruction will continue until we have 8 survivors without totems (and 8 with semblances of totems.)
Those suffering total totem destruction will be going to Tribal Council.
The remaining survivors will sleep in The Inukshuk.

Go to the thread's index of posts that follows the initial post to the thread by Tribe. Go to Post #48 and notice that every post following it (other than your own) is in a straight line. And that's because everyone is replying to the post (#48) that initiated the subject of this vote.

The challenge for the survivors will be to race down-hill in their team colored Orcasleighs.



First 2 teams to reach the finish line will become Inukshuk, the other 2 teams become tribal-fodder.

For you players, the challenge will be split into 3 Phases.
Phase 1: 'Choosing Teams', Phase 2: 'The Orcasleigh Race' and Phase 3: 'The Reward'.

Phase 1: 'Choosing Teams'
For this phase I will need 7 different posters.
In order...
Poster #1: Pick 2 survivors and place them on the Fuschia Orcasleigh team.
Poster #2: Pick 2 survivors and place them on the Olive Orcasleigh team.
Poster #3: Pick 2 survivors to "Sit-Out" this challenge and participate in a Reward instead.
Poster #4: Pick 2 survivors and place them on the Maroon Orcasleigh team.
Poster #5: Pick 2 survivors and place them on the Teal Orcasleigh team.
Poster #6: Place the 4 remaining survivors 1 on each of the Orcasleigh teams.
Poster #7: Pick 1 of the previous 6 posters to go on Reward with the Sit-Outs. (figuratively, of course.)

Once finished, Poster #7 can begin Phase 2, using the teams formed from the above poster's choices.

And what a Reward!

It happens that the show is filming during the Arctic's convention and exhibition season (July 16th thru July 16th, inclusive). So, in addition to our visits to the area's glittering Ice Caves and to stunningly-costumed Inuit ceremonies and dances, we were also treated to a glittering Russian sleigh ride (for Kelly and Brady) and to a stunningly-syrupy "We are the World" photo op (for a stunningly-camouflaged me).


But the highlight of our (literally) long day was the cameo appearance of our Executive Producer and Host as Father Nature in the spectacularly-staged outdoor drama, The Otter's Limits (And Other Thrilling Tails).



Note: The local Chamber of Commerce asserts that no small children, polar bears or union stewards were killed, injured, aggrieved or excessively medicated during our visit.

And there was more to come when we were ushered into our posh - wall-to-wall skin, fur, oil and Canadian Ice Wine - igloo: a note addressed to me! With instructions to recite its contents! So (though mindful of the native admonition "It is better that what happens in an igloo stays in the igloo"), I shall!

But, this is going to be easy. Because I'm an unabashed sexist. And I am not about to give a fourth perfectly good - for challenges, chores and more - man the opportunity to lounge around in Inawhile as another perfectly good woman is forced to face curling up in the bleached bones of an unlucky jay-walking whale, for Pete's sake!

And when I explained my reasoning to the former Marine and FBI Counter-Terrorism Agent, I'm certain that he understood - perfectly. I am, in fact, so certain of his breadth of intelligence and the depth of his chivalry that I didn't bother to inquire about the degree to which he agreed with my most excellent logic.

However, this decision - sending Brady to Tribal Council and Kelly to Inawhile Council - does not mean that I want to see Brady leave us. To the contrary.

Because while it is true that I am fast approaching seventy, it is also true that I am not yet senile ...
