"A Moment of Silence"

Shall we observe a moment of silence (by the looks of things around here, perhaps a year of silence) to observe the cancellation of "All My Children" and "One Life to Live."

I haven't watched either of them in years but I was sad to hear of their cancelation. OLTL was my first soap opera. I'd watch it after school back when Victoria Lord was fighting her evil stepmother, Dorian. And now what will Susan Lucci do???!

It's rumored that Susan Lucci is headed to Desperate Housewives.

That would be perfect for her!

I never watched either of these.

I frequently catch bits and pieces of Y&R, B&B, and DOOL if I'm on a piece of cardio at the gym, but I don't even listen to them anymoree, I just happen to see what's going on.

I miss the soaps of the 80s and 90s.

Daytime soaps are a dying breed. For me, the biggest loss was Passions. It moved from NBC to DirecTV, and was cancelled. Wonder how long Days can hang on.

All My Children finale will be Sept. 23.

Several former stars of "All My Children" will appear on the show's final episodes, including Josh Duhamel, Eva La Rue, Thorsten Kaye, Carol Burnett, Kate Collins, Jennifer Bassey, Melissa Claire Egan and Leven Rambin.

Will the online soaps happen? Will you watch?

How will they end AMC? Will Babe come back?

LAST EDITED ON 09-02-11 AT 11:53 AM (EST)

Jamie and Babe, Brooke and Adam, Verla Grubbs (Carol Burnett), Sarah Michelle Geller, and Eva La Rue are all coming back. Maria, Dixie, Zach, Leo, Gillian and creator/writer Agnes Nixon were on last month. This final month should be even better than last month.

I might watch online. I think they'll happen, out of demand.

All My Children
only soap I ever watched with any regularity.
So long ago I don't really remember why or when... as in when I wasn't working & was able to see a day time soap; must have been back in the years of teaching school & I watched during the summers.

My grandmother (who died in 1971) was a big As the World Turns & One Life to Live fan.
Back then, I'd watch Dark Shadows after school. That was a soap, right?

Dark Shadows was a popular soap for teenagers, after school. I never watched it, though.

Loved Dark Shadows!! And watched it again when it was on the SciFi channel about 10 years ago.

Looking forward to seeing the Johnny Depp Dark Shadows movie version!

"What a week!"

This last week of All My Children has been memorable: Lots of stories wrapped up and lots of old-timers returning. Lots of flashbacks and a few surprises. Lots of old-timers subtlely referring to their new shows in their dialogue. Meloncholy week, indeed. Sad to see the show go.

I don't watch this soap. I did briefly way back when Jessie/Angie and Greg/Jenny were on. I moved to Days of Our Lives shortly after Jenny died.

I don't like that the soaps are being replaced by cheap-awful shows. AMC does not deserve this.

I will be thinking of AMC as I watch DOOL try to reboot today.
