"Testing the Twist Idea"

And it may be that somebody has posted this before but it occurred to me the other night.

How about having the merge at a TC? It could go something like this -- Tribe A loses IC and goes through the whole kvetch scenario of trying to decided who to vote out. Tribe B, with immunity, goes back to PAR-TAH. When Tribe A arrives at the pit, they see Tribe B sitting there, sans torches (maybe even in the jury box). No explanations given. Tribe A does their chat, and votes. Just before Jeff tells us "I'll go count the votes." He announces the merge. Everyone in Tribe B has immunity, but they get to vote.

Well?

It would give a lot of power to the tribe with immunity and the person voted out would feel like it wasn't really playing Survivor since his alliance would mean nothing.

It would work best if the tribe with immunity had less members, maybe like foa Foa at the emrger in Samoa. They wouldn't have needed a crack in Galu to eliminate Erik and it could have helped them take control even without Hatnz's idols because Galu's vote would have shwon the riff between Erik and Laura's sides.

On the other hand, if the tribe with immunity also has the numbers advantage then it could simply ensure the pagonging.

How about this twist: 16 strangers divided in two tribes of 8, no hidden idols, a merger at 10 and a Final 2?
