Egads, first Simon Cowell wants to cast 14 year olds on American Idol and now this

I know they don't exactly cast for emotional maturity on reality TV, but why now this push to younger contestants? It is bad enough when I'm old enough to be the eye candy's mom, but I'm not ready to be the eye candy's grandma, yet!.

Two of my family members auditioned for Season 18. Has anyone on the boards? If so - have any notifications gone out?
