In the past, we have managed to isolate and list things lighter than Janu, those more annoying than Courtney, and items that were more useless than Chet. This is going to be a challenge...

... that I work with who, after seeing the movie X-Men on satellite TV, asked me the next day if there were really mutants in the U.S.A.

I politely said, no... not that kind.

This actually happened... I swear.

A brand-spanking-newborn baby.

Without any cynical genes.

And a lower than average IQ.

Or maybe a cocker spaniel puppy.

If we combine dumb, naive, and paranoid into 1, I'll drop down Erik to #2 on the All Time Survivor list and slot Osten at #1.

All I'll say about Osten was he was in a core alliance, people wanted hm to stay, tried to help him, but he was convinced he's get sick, hurt, bit by a pelican, etc...

Osten wasn't so much dumb and naive as he was self-centered and disinterested. He belongs, well, heads up actually, that elite group of Survivor quitters. That's different from being dumb.

Erik is first in the group of clueless idiots that includes Matt and Lil. They hung in there, but had no idea what they were doing.

ETA: If you would like, we could lump them all together in a group called people with no hope of winning.

While Matt and Lil were certainly not the most intelligent, strategic survivors ever, why do you put them in the same boat as Erik? Did Matt or Lil make any big idiotic blunder like Erik just did? I can't recall any.

As far as the question at hand, hmmm. My cat is definitely smarter. When my dog was a puppy maybe. But now that it's a grown dog, it's smarter than Erik.

I bet Colby/James/Jason are plenty happy about this development. Each can rest safe now knowing they will no longer top any list of the dumbest survivor ever.

How about what's-his-name Marshall, that old dude that married Anna Nicole just because she'd take her top off in front of him? Now THAT is pathetic! In MY book, anyway.....giving away much more than ONE million for THAT??? Hummmmmm. Comes as close as I can think!

I thought of Matt and Lil being similar in terms of general cluelessness and yet making it far into the game. You are absolutely correct that they didn't any spectaular blunders, but Lil made many, many small ones.

Colby and James are much smarter; they both just made one really bad move that cost them the game. James didn't realize what he was doing, but I think Colby did, so I see a real difference there.

Erik is in a class by himself , with possibly only Jason coming close as far as being both dumb and blundering.

I don't believe that James was losing too much sleep over it. Survivor is a game that James is just a bit too sane to play well.

....of testosterone.

After bringing up the bashing that Amanda did of him at the TC's, and expressing his sense of outrage, he votes for her.

He's going to make some woman a great doormat someday.

I agree, I couldn't believe his tirade at TC, then the way he turned around and voted for Amanda anyway!

On the other hand, we always wanted unbiased jurors who could discard personal feelings and vote based on the game...

Bringing us full circle to the answer of the original question, "who is more naive than Eric?"

That would be us.

I don't think Erik voted based on the game, he voted Amanda for personal reasons. He saw his relationship with her as a friendship that needed to be patched up. I doubt he weighed which one of Amanda and Parvati played better overall.

items that were more useless than Chet

Can I add "Amanda in front of a jury" to this list?

I wanted her to win, but that jury performance was dismal.

TOTALLY!!! Especially after all those 'academy award winning' perfomances at the other TC's, she just blew all her chances right out of the water at the BIG ONE!

Was she nervous, didn't like being put on the spot, or what? She'd just been through this a little over a month ago! Did she not learn ANYTHING from Todd?? What the heck was that about? She practically gave her mil to Parv-probably why Parv got a few more votes than she would have to begin with. The fact that she was able to manipulate even to the end, up to and including her BFF Amanda. Sad. Wonder if there are any men out there willing to actually get involved with THAT scank? (Parv).....

Why Eric expressed anger at Amanda yet still voted for her?

It makes sense to me (and for once he was smart). He recognized that Pavarti had zero respect for him, but he felt Amanda betrayed him (not by voting against him but by berating him the way she did). Kind of like how Cathy still voted for BRob. While Erik was dissappointed in Amanda and he expressed it, there was some basis of a friendship there whereas Pavarti was so not a friend to him that there was no point in even asking her a question. When he did not ask Pavarti anything, I knew he was voting Amanda. For once, Erik did something right. If a person has zero chance at your vote, why bother even asking them anything?

That must be spam, because I have no idea how that link related to a) Erik or b) Survivor.

I agree with you completely on this one. I can't make that link go to anything that relates to Survivor, much less Erik!
