Wow. Heck of an episode. There are lots of questions:1. Who is the economist? Is it Widmore, Hanso, Abaddon, or someone else? 2. How in the heck did Ben get control over Sayid of all people and why is he giving him a list of people to kill to keep the other Oceanic 6 safe? Or is he trying to keep the people still on the island safe? 3. What is the significance of the two bracelets on Naomi's and Sayid's girlfriend's wrists? Who is the R.G. on Naomi's bracelet? 4. Why is there a 31-minute gap between Faraday's clock and the clock in the payload that came from the freighter? 5. What happened to Jacob's cabin?

Wowza! Loved it again!I get the feeling now...very subtle...that the characters seem to be portraying events on the island like they have some "dim memory" of doing it already. Deja vu? I don't know. I got that from Sayid last night when he removed the bracelet from Naomi and also a few times from Jack. Maybe I'm falling for the time travel/loop theory but I just get that vibe. That being said what a wonderful job by Naveen Andrews last night! Wow. When he told Ben on the island when they were together in the barracks that "the day I trust you is the day I loose my soul" I knew that there would be a hookup somewhere. What a complete change in our Sayid when he is with Ben at the end. Devastating. Arkie's Art! He's real and he is looking for you!

I'm now wonderinmg if somehow Ben influenced Sayid to change his mind during the time they were together in the Barracks room, after the scene we saw. Maybe there was some really convincing information Ben shared that caused Sayid to decide to work for Ben as the assassin later on.

10. "The List" |
Now some new questions. Who's on the list? What is the list?Mr. Avellino was obviously on the list. As soon as Sayid told him who he was, he knew he was toast. The Economist. Elsa was speaking german to her boss\co-consipirator. Thomas Mittelwerk? Elsa was wearing the same bracelet as Naomi. Had Sayid not noticed this before? Were they working for the same organization? Or, did Sayid give Naomi's bracelet to Elsa and was he taking it back off of her dead body? Sayid said "The day I trust Ben is they day I've sold my soul" when talking to Locke at the barracks. We know how that ends. What fun!

19. "RE: Mittelwerk?" |
I remember him from calling one of the telephone numbers during the Lost Experience. Didn't play the game fully, but here is what I found on LostPedia. It was really just German speaking that made me think of him.
Thomas Mittelwerk, or Dr. Thomas Werner Mittelwerk, was the President and Chief Technologist of the Hanso Foundation. He was groomed by Alvar Hanso to be his successor but eventually overthrew him as the head of the Hanso Foundation. Through her research, protagonist Rachel Blake discovered that Mittelwerk has never obtained a degree at any institution in the world, making his "doctor" title a lie. Through further investigation, she discovered how Mittelwerk was now working in corrupt areas, such as organ harvesting, and how he was planning to test a deadly virus on villagers in Sri Lanka. After video evidence (the Sri Lanka Video) was released of Mittelwerk admitting to his plans, the authorities attempted to apprehend Mittelwerk. However, he managed to escape with the virus, and in the process blew up the Hanso Foundation headquarters. After Alvar Hanso released a statement, Mittelwerk hacked the website feed with his own statement saying that he would continue his plan to release the virus. Though not a real doctor by accounts, Mittelwerk does seem an intelligent man, being able to speak Korean as well as English. In fact, considering criteria for his personal assistant on hansocareers.com, and the fact that he grew up in Austria (German speaking) and has his permanent offices in Copenhagen (Danish), its quite possible that Mittelwerk is a polyglot.

The three animals in cages we saw looked like a beagle, a shephard and a boxer or something similiar. There was a poster on the wall of a yellow lab (by the door when Sayid walked in).

I know this was really Episode 2, but speaking of Vincent...there were polar bears again...even if they were in Tunisia. I remember that we discussed (somewhere on this board) that Vincent is always in an episode with polar bears.

My first thought was Sayid took Naomi's bracelet and gave it to Elsa. Or is it a second bracelet? not sureThe ending- I couldn't believe it was Ben! At first I thought it was going to be Jack's Dad stiching Sayid up. Does anyone know with the timers on Daniels experiment- was the time ahead or behind on the island? 2005 PhoenixMons

The clock from the pay load said approx. 2:45, while the clock he compared it to on the island said somewhere around 3:35. So it took around thirty 'island minutes' to get the pay load. Some sort of time warp that takes a while to get through? The communication from the phone isn't delayed....just the payload...actual physical contact is delayed. I think Farraday knows what is going on. Or maybe had an inkling and now knows for sure thanks to the experiment. I wish they would ask him more questions. Tribe rocked me!

I think the first time was 2:53, but I know the second time was 3:16. I remember when I saw the second time, that it struck me because it's a number you see at football games in the stands (John 3:16). My first thought was of course the quote from John, but then I thought maybe it was from Daniel (isn't that Faraday's first name), but neither seem to fit. Maybe it was a random number and the time difference, which would be 23 minutes is what is significant. After watching for over three seasons, I've come to conclusion that nothing is random so I doubt they just plucked numbers from the sky.

31. "Easter Egg scene from The Economist" |
The Fence Scene From "The Economist" MILES What is this?
SAYID A Security fence. When activated, the pylons emit a high pitch frequency that will kill anyone who passes through it. We used a tree to climb... MILES raises his hand towards Sayid. He seems to hear something. MILES SHHHHHHHHH!!! SAYID stops and watches MILES as he scans the surroundings, listening intently. SAYID (Sarcastic) I'm sorry, are we supposed to be hearing something? A beat passes and MILES is suddenly aware that SAYID had spoken to him. MILES I'm sorry, what? KATE is examining the control panel. KATE Maybe I can shut it off. SAYID joins her, bending over to examine the panel. SAYID And, how might you do that? KATE I saw Juliet do it once. SAYID (Doubtful) Without the code? ANGLE ON MILES. He continues to scan with a slight twitch, similar to when we saw him reading the boys room in Confirmed Dead. Suddenly he walks through the pylons and turns towards an astonished KATE and SAYID. MILES Hey, I don't think its on. KATE And how did you know that? MILES Lucky guess. MILES turns and walks away. SAYID and KATE exchange puzzled glances and proceed after him.

Lostpedia mentioned this on their front page, but didn't have the dialog. (Maybe the did, but I am afraid to delve too deeply into the Lost sites because I don't want to read any spoilers by accident.)

42. "RE: Losing Interest" |
I just wonder if that *is* the future or if it just *could be* the future. If it *is* the future, then I don't care how >they get there. Without a happily ever after, I really don't need to see how it ends.My thoughts exactly. I agree that week 2's episode was just okay. I guess that’s to be expected when you introduce new characters. It interrupts the flow of the story. At first I wasn't that enthralled with this week's episode either, however, I've been thinking about it all weekend. I liked the time warp element and agree with the poster above that there is a bit of déjà vu. It makes me think that when they go back and save everyone, we'll see everyone have a different (happier) ending. I’m not at all surprised that Sayid has become an assassin. We’ve seen that side of him all along and Jack reminded us that he was a torturer and Hurley mentioned that he saw Sayid snap that guys neck. I was surprised that Sayid was working for Ben and that is a stretch of imagination, but it makes me wonder. Has Sayid sold his soul to Ben or is this the “good guy” side of Ben that’s he’s been calling himself all along? Do the Losties and Ben team up against Dharma? Certainly whoever it is that rescues the Oceanic 6 is very powerful as it is obvious that for her silence, they were able to save Kate from going back to jail. I’m thinking now that the person she has to get back to is her child she had with Sawyer. Michael Emerson is a great actor and I really love to hate Ben! We’ve discovered 4 of the 6 Oceanic Six: Kate, Jack, Hurley, and Sayid. Plus we know that Ben gets off and we can assume that Michael, Walt and Desmond escape too. At this rate who’s going to be left to go back to save?
