So now we know how much the tickets for the Olympics will cost, although not if we will actually be able to win them in the raffle:

http://media.ticketmaster.com/og/en-gb/img/sys/tournament/london2012/olyticketprice.pdf

Most expensive sport? Super finals in the Athletics will set you back 725ukl, standard finals 450ukl along with tickets for the finals of Beach Volleyball, Diving, Artistic Gymnastics, and Swimming.

Most sports available for 20squid for the preliminaries plus most of the Marathon is free.

So if I give you (an entirely non-existant) 450 pounds what do you fancy?

Lovely cheese Mooney

Just another Sleeperbloke

You would have to pay me a lot of money to go see dressage. Again. Back in 1976 Montreal that is an event my parents got us tickets for. Holy mother of boring, especially for a restless 11-yr old!

As for events I would like to see
- Athletics - 800m finals (men or women), 1500M finals (M or F), maybe high jump, pole vault, or triple jump?
- certainly the beach vball would be good (maybe F better than M? )
- indoor vball would also be good. Again I prefer the F game here, as the men spike so hard there aren't many rallies!
- it would be cool to watch mountain biking or the triathlon, assuming there is a way to see different aspects of the race (sitting in a seat to watch them go by would not be so great)

I'm a sport junkie though, and other than my dressage comment could really enjoy watching just about anything.

LAST EDITED ON 10-15-10 AT 01:14 PM (EST)

In 1984 I attended a few events, some women's basketball (this was before it got real popular). Tix were dirt cheap. I was able to slip into the press section and play with the stone-age computers - just player info & stats, but it was cool (remember, this was 1984).

I also saw some synchronized swimming (duos) & a couple of baseball games (the baseball tix were free - a perk from being a Dodger season ticket holder).

Not too sure what I'd like to catch in London -- I'd rather use the £450 for sight-seeing (and I'd go a month before the games to avoid the crowds & extortionists prices).

Thanks for the invite! (I'm sure room & board at your flatlette will be complimentary for your OT friends...)

I guess things could be worse. We could be forced to watch LOST.

edited -- I was in Los Angeles, not Moscow...

The 450 pounds wouldn't last long if you wanted to see some of the marquis sports. The ones that I would like to see are swimming, diving, gymnastics and basketball.

Some of the less popular (and cheaper tickets) sports I would explore are cycling, canoe slalom, the triathlon (is there a lake big enough in Hyde Park for the swim?) and water polo. And I'd watch the marathon (outside the stadium).

Really, if given the opportunity, I would see anything except wrestling. There are so many interesting sports on the list - synchronized swimming, beach volleyball, tennis, track & field...how to choose?

Are you going to go? What would you try to see?

Definitely going to try to go

I'm planning:

Cheap - Athletics and Handball (no idea what handball is, so the tickets shouldn't be in high demand)

Medium - Beach Volleyball, Badminton, Diving, Wheelchair Basketball, Murderball, and Paralympics on the track.

Also vaguely thinking of Water Polo, Tennis, Rowing and Archery.

So no holiday for me next year!

Apparently they are using the Serpentine for the swimming marathon and the Triathlon. It should be OK
