I remember during the last few years of his career we'd all wait for those field goal situations and then root, "Come on, George, get another one!" "RE: R.I.P., George Blanda" You know, when I think of Blanda, I always think of fellow Hall-of-Famer Lou "The Toe" Groza along with him. Groza played for the Browns starting in 1946 and ending in 1967 at age 43, although he retired as an offensive tackle after the 1959 season (and sat out 1960 to get away from non-kicking duties). Groza and Blanda were both still active when Pete Gogolak came into the NFL and changed kicking forever. They were among the last of the great kicker/players, along with Green Bay's Paul Hornung and Baltimore's Lou Michaels.
