be fooled. Trying to get everyone to agree with you is like herding cats,
but intolerance for other viewpoints is NOT welcome and respect for other

Ebert once said, "If you disagree with something I write, tell me so, argue
with me, correct me--but don't tell me to shut up. That's not the American way."

Nathan, I had the finale TiVo'd, and I just got a chance to watch it tonight. You seem like a genuinely smart and nice person, and I have nothing negative to say about you. I wish you the best of luck in your relationship. However, I may have to burst your bubble a little about Anna. I don't think she's as nice as you are. Here's what I think really happened: To be truthful, the only Average Joe I thought she had any sliver of a connection with was Arthur. I was sure he would end up on the finale. But then Arthur blew it by getting all sappy, just about confessing his love for her. It was too much too soon. She knew then she had to dump him asap, and not continue to lead him on any further. She liked him as a person, and wanted to minimize the hurt. You see, all along she had planned to choose Rocky. That's the only guy she felt passionate about. Despite appearances, Anna is quite shallow and could only feel passionate about a pretty boy. I'm sorry to say that you were initially supposed to be her pawn on the finale. But then Anna's dreamboat himself threw a monkey wrench into her plan. Rocky confessed to Anna's mother about his infidelity, and revealed that he never wanted to work a day in his life. There was no way Anna could choose him and save face on natinal TV. She had to dump him. And since you were the only guy left, she chose you. But pretty much told you it was only as a friend. She hinted that nothing would ever happen. Basically, she didn't choose anyone. Had Rocky revealed his infidelity on a previous episode, he would have been voted out then, and Anna would have chosen another pretty boy for the finale. That other pretty boy would have won. This is not to say anything negative about you. It just points out Anna's underhanded intentions. I've watched all the Average Joes, and here's a breakdown of the show: First: A beautiful girl meets several average joes. She bonds with the best looking of the lot. In come the models. The beautiful girl bonds with the best looking of that lot, finally ending up with one. Nathan, I enjoyed seeing you on the show, and I thank you for visiting this site. Again, I wish you the best!

LAST EDITED ON 08-08-05 AT 08:29 AM (EST)I would just like to say to Angelthman that I don't think I "blew it" on the show. The way I behaved with Anna is how I would behave on a date with any woman I was smitten with. Why do people find this so hard to believe? I have been successful with women since I lost my virginity at the ripe old age of 16. My style with women has never changed and it never will. You don't believe me? I wish I can show you all the emails women have been sending me since the series ended. Some have included their photos and these women, God love 'em, are HOT! It's just too bad most of them live far away from me, because I don't plan on moving out of New York for anyone. The point is, I didn't "blow it", at all. The fruits of my efforts with Anna on the show, are actually beginning to hang low--ripe for my picking--as we speak. I appreciate your analysis of the show, I find it interesting, in fact. I just think, perhaps, viewers read into it a little too deeply.

Um, I got some e-mails from "Horny Housewives who want to meet me" and a few offering to sell me Viagra. You think those are cuz I was on the show? You think you could send some of those fruits my way, Arthur? (Wait, that didn't come out right...)

This response just doesn't "ring true" with me. I'll expand on this a bit more at the end of my diatribe. I too was one of those addicted to the show...and of course, pulling for one of the "Joes" to win. I thought Anna had a bit more substance than earlier women - not to mention the fact that the producers would probably have made picking a "Joe" mandatory. I don't think the show would have been able to survive had another of the "hunks" been chosen. Let's face it, there was an outline for the show, and the outcome was pretty much a given. Sure, I'm certain there were a few minor surprises, but otherwise it was highly scripted. Which brings me back to the main reason I'm bothering to write this (besides the fact that I have the day off, and nothing planned until afternoon). Arthur. I don't believe this is the "real" Arthur posting...unless the Arthur on the show was a darned good actor. The man I saw (at least in my mind's eye) was genuine, and a romantic at heart. Old fashioned? Yes, a bit...which was one of his charms. I see Arthur brag about losing his virginity at 16, and go on about how many "hot" women are emailing him...just does not ring true...those lines were the lines of a jerk, and Arthur did not strike me as that type. No, I think this "Arthur" is a poser. The real Arthur is probably out there, looking for a real woman to love. He'd not waste his time responding on a cheesy message board (no offense people, after all, I'm writing on the same cheesy message board). As for Nathan...what a sweetie. At least that is the impression I got from the show. I wish him well...the same is true for the rest of the "Joes". As for the "hunks"...be careful. Looks will only get you so far...and age will eventually take those looks from you. Once your looks are gone, what will you have left? Can't believe I just spent 15 minutes on this reading/posting, and actually registered just to do so! Groan. Should be out enjoying the day instead...so off I go.
