CBS website gives the following bullets on Episode 4:*Computers crash at a foreign airport, leaving several teams stranded without a flight. *Driving to the Roadblock, one duo follows another team who leads everyone in the wrong direction. *Teams get to relieve their frustrations from the stress of the race by bashing bottles over each others' heads.

4. "Wrong direction" |
The CBS web promo implies that Wanda/Desiree go the wrong direction on the autobahn. Is everyone following them?

I'm more inclined to think that E&J, who have made it their MO to follow other teams, usually BJ&T, follow the 2nd to the mat, Lake & Michelle. Since they can't find their butt with either hand and a mirror I wouldn't be surprised if they found themselves in never-neverland with E&J following close behind.

I believe that EJ found their clue before LM. They also won the first leg therefore somebody else was doing "the following." They were also ahead of BJT until they pulled into the filling station to ascertain that they were going in the right direction and BJT passed them and got to Phil first which leads me to believe that BJT were following them.

14. "RE: Wrong direction--who are the followers?" |
Desperado-Your facts are not quite correct. True, Eric/Jeremy finished the Sao Paulo leg in first place, but the only time they pulled ahead was after the helicopter detour when they finished minutes ahead of BJ/Tyler. They clearly instructed their taxi driver to follow BJ/Tyler after leaving Hotel Unique. (They had intended to go to the motorcyle detour) They even complained when BJ/Tyler's driver took them to the wrong entrance at the airport and E/J's driver followed suit, not bothering to realize they should have directed the driver themselves. In the second leg (Brotas), once again, they comment on how they "Enjoy following" other teams, and in fact were following BJ/Tyler in caravan to the pit stop. They fell behind further (were not passed) when they stopped to confirm directions. Finally, in the third leg, they also direct their taxi driver to follow Lake/Michelle (who are following Ray/Yolanda) and end up at the Russian doll detour. Again, they had intended to go the the trolley cleaning detour. With their luck, as in episode 1, they finished the detour first and finally led to the mat by St. Basil's cathedral. It is debatable if by sharing a cab with Danielle and Dani, they were navigating or the girls were, but we haven't seen the girls having any direction problems yet. Of the three legs, they led only from the last detour to the pit stop/mat in two of the legs. To me, that's a pretty low percentage for a 1-2-1 finish. Of course, the irony is that all that matters is who steps on the mat first. (Except in the area of respect!)

I like the idea of Eric and Jeremy being the followers with Lake and Michelle as the team leading them in the wrong direction. Both of these situations are recurring themes fromthe first 3 episodes.

The recurring themes we've seen over the past 3 episodes are E&J again saying "Let's follow them". They seem to like to tag on coattails. The fact that they have a difficult time taking the lead in those types of situations will probably be their downfall. As for L&M, they're lost all the time and constantly fighting about it. Enough said.

Enough said."The fact that they have a difficult time taking the lead in those types of situations will probably be their downfall." That may be. Hopefully it will not happen There is no denying that they have gotten into a taxi behind others (Ray and Yolanda last week) and said "Follow them." I doubt that somebody in the same situation would have told their driver to head in the opposite direction. "As for L&M, they're lost all the time and constantly fighting about it." True. One has to wonder how they managed to finish second last week after starting the leg behind so many other racers. Maybe he decided to listen to and follow Michelle's directions?

There should be absolutely no confusion about this since it has been clearly shown in last week's ep that all nine teams (and production personnel and Phil) all got on the same Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt connecting with a flight to Moscow. So, yes, there was bunching at the Sao Paulo airport.

Yes, I saw the show, but thanks. It was a poor attempt at trying to subtly remind desperado of how Lake and Michelle caught up to the other teams after being lost in Brotas.
