Eastern Mountain Sports is located on 591 Broadway, at the intersection of Houston Street. The shop specializes in sport and outdoor apparel. TAR has had tasks making teams go to shops to pick up gear (TAR5 Calgary, edited out), so this may be a likely task. This information fits in with the Huntsville spoiler below, claiming that the race started on Thursday. Unhelpful staff and cordoned off areas. 4. Alleged filming of tourism video. 5. Rowing of 'George Washington' across Delaware. 6. Six teams of four seen. The visitor's center is on the intersection of Routes 32 and 532. I'll try to get a satellite image to try to match the places mentioned. Teams arrived on two buses from South Carolina. 2. Teams headed to Huntsville-Madison County Convention & Visitors Bureau, 500 Church St on Tuesday morning from midnight to 4am. 3. 8 to 10 GMC Yukons left the parking lot for the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. 4. There were tasks involving the Aviation Challenge centrifuge, running to rocket park and the computer station at the Space Center. 5. The Space Center is possibly the Pitstop. 6. The Huntsville Marriot is the Pitstop hotel. 7. Clueboxes put on display only when necessary. 8. Only one team has been eliminated since the start. 9. There are still eleven teams this time. After having so many spoilers with minimal information, we finally chance upon a generous one. Two separate spoilers basically saying the same thing, with the Pitstop description, the hotel, and the buses. Newspaper reports have rarely failed us. (I can't recall a time when they have.) That's where I got information for the Singapore leg of TAR3 as well. If it's a personal contact, all the more likely it will happen. As the racecourse veers south, one wonders why they cut through the entire Eastern coast and skips the entire western half of the United States. It's a second-hand source and descriptions are quite generic, there is a possibility that it's a hoax. Also, the witness sounds like an American ('doing field work'), so he should probably know about the race and how it works. Anyway, the Institute is on Barro Colorado Island, off Colon (where the Panama Canal ends) and not that really far way from Panama City. TEAM SPOILERS Nomipomi has raised the issue about Palpatine on Survivor Sucks claiming to be Willard of Survivor: Palau and having his son's family on TAR: Family. If we see a heavily-tattooed man, that's our guy, according to Palpatine. 1963Mustang suggests there is a team of a white man, woman and two girls in the race in Washington DC. Cover-up people leaking information. The lack of information on the date and source of information make this spoiler not as reliable as we hope it to be. However, this will link well with the Disneyworld start. VICTORIA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA (Out-of-Sync) By BBear on this board Time: Friday 1 to Sunday 3 July 2005 1. Cluebox spotted on Fan Tan Alley. 2. No cameras nor racers spotted. 3. Cluebox removed within a few hours. Canada holds a lot of local mini-races, so this may be part of one of them. Although the timing doesn't fit in, anything can happen. There are several attractions in the vicinity of Fan Tan Alley, and no Amazing Race watcher (enough to know about bickering couples and cameramen) will mistake the green box and flag design. This spoiler seems to have been refuted by Bassoon291 on Survivor Sucks, whose e-mail reply from Dundas Square suggested that the filming on July 16 (huh?) was for the Samsung Race for the Torch. Can anyone go down on the 16th to see if there's a separate race being run? INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT, NORFOLK, VIRGINIA, USA (Out-of-Sync) By MisterMcGee on TWoP Time: Tuesday 12 July 2005 1. Filming was limited to the airport. Very strange that filming only takes place in the airport. Is it a place for a charter flight, or anything else that can only take place in an airport? The one that intrigues me the most is Belize. While it's a beautiful country, and I'm glad to see TAR possibly going there, it just doesn't seem to fit in with all the NA spoilers we're getting. That said, while an all-NA TAR (can I work in a few more abbreviations?) doesn't seem *quite* so "Amazing", it kind of makes sense from a logistical standpoint. We've seen the nightmare involved with getting groups of 4 on international flights (team+camera+sound), it could be even worse for 6 or more. With an all-NA TAR, driving, short charter flights, buses (as has been spoiled at least once), and trains make much more sense with what would be larger groups. I agree with you about the logistical nightmares of a family travelling together overseas and also with the increased number of tickets needed to be booked together as a group... but another thing that I'm really surprised about is that the producers think they can keep this show unspoiled with a North America-only trip for such a popular show. Half of America is familiar with the show by now (even if some of them haven't watched TAR) so there's the huge potential for spoilers everywhere to give away who is still in the race at the end. It seems to me that the producers will have to do a ton of misdirection work such as keeping all of the losers "still in the game" by having them go through the motions right to the end, a tough thing to do if you've got tempermental kids in some of the families and they've got to pretend they're still going all out, etc.   Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Actually there are a lot of historic/tourist attractions around Charleston (where the Civil War started). There's also Fort Moultrie, Fort Sumter, etc., etc. Also, the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America, which connects Charleston and Mount Pleasant, opened last weekend. There were a lot of events on it the week before it opened, and a friend and I wondered if they might have done something there. (No one reported any bungee jumping or climbing on it!) There was nothing in the local paper about TAR being in town, but that's no surprise. The TV writer is on vacation. The weekly paper in Mount Pleasant didn't have anything either. I have heard of no Phil sightings, flag sightings or sightings of running foursomes, and it seems like someone would have seen something and called the newspaper. Still I believe the information I have and will continue to dig. Here's a little more detail: My boss' son, who occasionally works as a production assistant locally, went to an audition/interview on July 10. He was hired instead to be on camera for a shoot on July 11. He was told to go to a certain place, and then he (and others who were hired) were shuttled to the shoot. He had to sign a confidentiality agreement and wouldn't even give any information to his mother, other than it was for a "family reality show for network TV." She had heard from another source that it was for ABC. She's not a TAR fan, so she had not put it together. We had heard "The Next Top Model" was in town, but her son said that wasn't it. Additionally, the local CBS affiliate had auditions for the next AR a week earlier. I know I am suspect because I'm a new poster, but while I offer few comments, I am a daily lurker. If I am wrong, I am sorry. I wish I had something more concrete. I can check with the town and see bout filming permits. I lived in NC and this was the closest airport to us, so I have flowen out of Norfolk plenty times and VERY familar with the area and what can go in and out of the airport. They do have charter flights, but as far as I know they are to where I used to live in NC, the Outer Banks. I would be very surprised if they go to the Outer Banks, granted it is a very historical area, the Wright Brothers flew there as well as many other things. I have not heard about this from anybody back home either, my mom still lives there, and word travels pretty fast. Last week, I was in DC. On Friday, I was on the mall near the Lincoln Memorial. The area was crowded as usual. I heard some shouting and looked towards the Vietnam Memorial just as a group of people came running out of the crowd. There was a man, a woman, and two young girls (caucasian) followed by a cameraman and a sound guy. All four were wearing orange outfits and caps and were running straight at me. I immediately thought about the race and wished for my camera. They ran right by me next to the reflecting pool and on towards the Korean Momument. I couldn't follow but I saw them stop and ask a park ranger something. I moved towards the ranger and heard him use his radio to call someone. He wanted to know what all the camera crews were doing on the mall. He said he had been seeing them all morning. The reply came back that they were filming a tourism video. He then said the cameraman had asked him to sign a release to use the film of him answering questions and he had refused. He told whoever he was talking to that it was against regulations and that they had better pass that on to the other rangers just in case. This was on Friday, July 8th, about 11 am. However, Ronald Reagan Airport is on the yellow and blue lines, so that part sounds possible, but that is also the pickest airport when it comes to security measures. They werent on the metro, they were getting out of a car at the airport. Cause that would be the closest if they were at the mall and they were travelling somewhere. Also there is a greyhound bus station between The New York Avenue station and Union Station. I was on the train going towards springfield, I usually get off at regan from the yellow line and switch over to blue on the same track. While I was waiting I saw something that looked familar, but it was to late when I saw the other train coming. Here is a picture of ronald regan national airport and the metro with in it. At Dulles, the only non-stops are on United, which does help to confirm the Phil sighting. The only thing that doesn't make sense about the Phil sighting at Dulles is the "standing in line for business class". But, Norfolk International is also the airport of choice for visits to Colonial Williamsburg (VA): a task-rich and highly controlled environment (filming could be accomplished during the park's non-operating hours). And I also agree that it looks as if this is going to be an "Around North America" edition of The Race: beginning, I think, in DisneyWorld and concluding in DisneyLand (during its 50th celebration). At least, I hope so. I visited DisneyLand during its first season (in August of 1955), and have not been there since. I understand that it has grown ... There is no way that they could film on the Outer Banks, the traffic is HORRIBLE, however if they did take a charter plane down there, they would miss sitting in the long hours of traffic just to get on the island. It's the big tourist season in both places, so Busch Gardens will be utterly packed from 10 am to 11 pm every day and I doubt they'll agree to let the race film after hours. Colonial Williamburg is EXTREMELY protective of the historical buildings, so again, I can't really see them agreeing to alow filming, although I could be wrong. Although, if they do in fact film in DisneyWorld/Epcot/World Showcase the older park might look a bit shabby in comparison. Have you been to Busch Gardens at all lately? One word I would never use to describe it is shabby. The park has won the award for America's Most Beautiful Theme Park for like the last 20 years. The grounds are kept in flawless condition and are spotlessly clean. My dad, a longtime smoker, doesn't even like to put his cigarette out on the sidewalk in BG. He uses water to put it out and places it in a trash can. I've been to many theme parks on the east coast, Dinsey World included, and BG is BY FAR my favorite, primarily because of how beautiful it is. And about your father: I'm also a smoker who refuses to litter public places (particularly beautiful ones) with cigarette remnants. I carry a purse valet, smoke only in (increasingly rare) areas designated for that purpose, and make every effort to frequent those (rapidly vanishing) attractions and accommodations that afford smokers an equality of (also rapidly vanishing) hospitality and civility (ashtrays, for instance, are a very nice thing ... for everyone). I turned to see how much time I had time until the metro came, and the metro was there. www.wmata.com is the location for the map of the metro rail. somebody mentioned the mall, and I was thinking Regan is the nearest airport. This group seems to be making it a regular event. The same group also offers custom races for groups or corporate events, so the clue boxes could show up any day of the year. The website only mentions Stanley Park Vancouver for these custom races, but they could easily do one on the island (or an enterprising competitor might). Even allowing for both of these to be wrong, it would seem TAR is popular enough in BC that you could easily find clue boxes and racers for local versions.
